Cake! :)

Heyyyy!! K, so I can't decide on a cake place. Shockingly, my venue is suggesting Publix! haha. I called them, and they do fondant and everything...I am just wondering who you are used/have used for cakes??

Thanks!

I would use Publix or A Piece of Cake in Tampa.

Publix does a really nice job, depending on which publix. Publix will use the cake decorator at the store closest to your venue so be sure to do your tasting is at that store.

I agree, Publix does a really nice job. My FI and I just had a tasting with Chef Nelson's Cake Studio, located in Palm Harbor. Cake was delicious and he is the most reasonably priced bakery I've found in all my research. He has great reviews as well.

Chef Nelson!!! HE has a deal on his Website. Google him  and scroll down. On the bottom left, there should be a coupon. Just print it out. He's very unresponsive via email, but he's been doing this forever, so you can trust him to get it right. DELICIOUS and easily half the cost of everyone else.

Thanks everyone! :) I have been thinking about possibly doing cupcakes, with a small round at the top of the cupcake stand thing...you know? lol. Anyway, I just got off the phone with  publix, and they only charge 75 cents per cupcake!!!! lol and then a 5 in round on top is only  $8.99. Including the delivery charge, its only going to be around $125!!!!! lol. that is AWESOME! :)

Piston89, that is awesome! I didn't know Publix was that inexpensive. Do they let you choose different flavors of cake and icing for the cupcakes? I would like to have a few different flavors. I am doing the same thing you are. I'm having a beach wedding with a very informal reception, so I figured cupcakes would be perfect. Then, my FI and I will have the little cake on top for the traditional cake cutting part. Are you getting any decorations on the top cake? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what Publix did you go to?

Thank you for posting that!  I am doing the same thing as well!  I want to get a groom's cake too but have it at the rehearsal dinner.  My groom really wants a chocolate Funfetti cake lol.  Hopefully, they can do that too!

We are using Chef Nelson as well because we are getting married in Dunedin, but I don't recommend him if you want any detailed piping or writing. Our cake is very simple without any decoration, just airbrush & buttercream. Every sample of what he showed us with any kind of piping or pipework looked like someone with parkinsons decorated it. Just a heads up.

Sorry, haven't checked this in a while! It's the Publix at New Tampa Center. 813-971-2261 is the number. The only flavors they do is vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, and marble. I'm  little sad they don't do more flavors, but, it's ok with me..Im not sure about icing flavors though. For regular cakes though, they do fondant too, which  surprised me! My sister asked if she can get me a cake topper....I think it will be our last initial.

I want to get my husband a grooms "cake" too...he doesnt like cake, so I want to get him a cookie cakes, he loves them! :) (oh, and I said husband, cause we are already married...long story.) :)

    AshL23--that's kinda sad! lol....
