Big Decision!

Okay, so originally we were going to a have a big wedding at a resort. I have the contract in hand but still decidiing whether to sign it! Our family gave us the option of having a smaller wedding (100 ppl) at a country club instead of at the resort and then giving us the money towards a house instead. When I think the best way to go is the smaller wedding & get the house then I miss the thought of the gorgeous resort. I have been fighting with myself for the last two weeks about this. HELP! What are yall's thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance!

100 people is plenty at a wedding! Take that deal and run! I'm hoping that not everyone RSVPs and we end up with only 75 at mine... =) The country club will still be beautiful!

Heck yeah, go small! I'm only having around 100. You would be surprised just how many people that is when you get them in a room together. Your wedding will still be awesome and no less of a wedding for sure! It's still all about you, AND you get money for a house to boot!

Agree with PPs. The resort wedding may be beautiful, it may be magnificent, it may be your dream wedding. But ultimately - and this is just me - I would be much more satisfied in the long run with a more intimate wedding and something to put toward our future together. It basically comes down to which is more important. I don't think there are any wrong answers - there are totally people who would rather have the wedding than the house, and that is fine! - but you just have to ask yourself whether you'll regret the decision once that ONE DAY is over with.

My sister had 300 people at her wedding. My mom barely had fun because she was greeting everyone all night and still didn't get around to everyone. She thought that big was ridicules. Stick to small wedding.

We had about 75 people and I was still felt like I barely got to see everyone!  I actually was trying to avoid the resort/hotel.  The ballrooms all look the same to me so I felt like I was just paying a ton of money for a pretty hotel lobby.  We had our reception at Tampa Bay Watch and everyone is still raving at how gorgeous it was.  I would not have changed a thing even if I had an unlimited budget!!!  Since we could hire our own caterer and bring in alcohol, it cost a fraction of a hotel wedding.  I did so much extra stuff that cost us next to nothing since we could bring it all in ourself-beverage station with drink dispensers, smores/ice cream cone bar, signature drinks in mason jars (on top of our open bar).  Everyone stayed on St. Pete Beach and we all went over to the beach bar behind the Beachcomber to hang out after the rehearsal dinner at Crabby Bills...it was a perfect, laid back vacation-feel type weekend!
