Problems with fiance with wedding 'jobs'?

Hi everyone!

Did anyone else designate wedding 'jobs' for the fiance to do only to have it blow up in their faces?

We're getting married May 2011, and back in Aug when I was booking the cake and flowers my fiance was feeling left out and asked for a role. I gave him a list of DJ's to contact, based on all the great reviews I found on this form. Well after pestering and hounding him for months and coming very close to just taking over, he finally got off his butt and contacted them yesterday. And now they are all booked up. *bangs head against desk*

yeah. They don't mention that it's one of the first things you should do, but it really is. People don't use DJs just for weddings, and think about how many parties go on every weekend. Who did you contact already?

Oh, man... that stinks. FI asked me yesterday if there was anything I needed him to do because so far I've been researching and calling all the venues, caterers, dealing with the DJ and photographer, etc. My answer was basically, "You are in charge of the tuxes when it's time to do that - picking them, registering us, letting all the GM and dads know the info. And you're in charge of buying all the beer and wine and making sure we get the best price on that. Otherwise, you are a fantastic source of moral support, and you just keep doing that and visiting venues/going to tastings with me."

He seemed happy with that But I'm so sorry about your DJ situation! Something will come through, I'm sure of it.

Yea he just sent me an email saying that I should just contact them myself instead of pestering him. Even though he's the one that begged for something to do in the first place.......

On the bright side, he can never complain again about not having any say. He said he contacted everyone on the list, but apparently it was only Grant Hemond. It's a bummer, because that was my first choice but it's only one company so there will hopefully be someone else

There are several weddings shows this month in Tampa.  Maybe you can go to them and find a DJ.

Have you checked with Celebrations of Tampa Bay? We are using them and they are great and have a great price. My friends used them for their wedding and the owner, Randy was awesome at getting people out on the dance floor. You can even watch videos of them on their website as a little preview. They have a couple DJs who work for them.

Thanks ladies! Unfortunatly, I live in Michigan so I can't go to the wedding shows. Grant Hemond is all booked, but I've been in contact with Rob Sword. He's booked, but Dan who works with him is available. Has anyone been DJ'd by Dan?

Rob Sword (never heard of Dan)
Carlos Garces
Breezin' Entertainment - they represent several DJs and bands

P.S.  I'm sorry you had to get stuck with this.  I always tell my FI when he "forgets" or just doesn't want to do something:  "don't rely on unreliable people."

I haven't heard of Dan but everyone raves about Rob Sword, I doubt he would hire someone who wasn't going to hold up his reputation.
