Sanibel Island Reception Venues

I apologize if this has been posted recently.  I tried looking through past posts and couldn't find anything.

My best friend is getting married on Sanibel Island next winter and I'm helping her research reception venue locations.  Does anyone have any recommendations for venues?  I am not from Florida so I have no idea where to start so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance ladies!

    Hi,

Im getting married there next summer. We decided not to go with a resort because we have a small group: 25-30, and we think that resorts are overpriced for weddings.

We are real foodies, so we were really frustrated at first, as a lot of the restaurants on the island are too casual, fried, and old in our opinion. We stumbled upon the Mad Hatter and I called the owner. She was lovely! It is very affordable, a little more elegant than most restaurants there, and we can get married on the beach right outside the restaurant! Check out the website! Its great if youre going to have a small wedding.

    Hi,
Depends on what you are looking for and your budget.

    Resorts:
South Seas Plantation- very beautiful, very pricey
    Casa Ybel- beautiful
Tween Waters- very nice, LOTS of weddings here, so be aware that there may be several other events going on at the same time as yours.
Sundial- very nice, more reasonable price. They also have a golf club on the island available for weddings which is very nice.

There are many other smaller resorts that offer weddings.

If you want a restaurant, try Ellington's (formerly Dolce Vita). Nice big restaurant, classy for weddings.

    Good luck!

Also- The Green Flash for restaurants. It's right on the water.

Regarding the Mad Hatter:  I love your idea!  I just started my Sanibel/Captiva Intimate Budget Wedding search and I agree; all of the resorts there are very nice looking but quite pricey for a couple of chairs and an arch, in my opinion.  On that note, are you renting chairs/arch from a vendor or is the restaurant going to help supply that part?  Also, have you found any good places for you and your guests (hotels, house rentals, etc)?  I'd love to hear about your findings!   :-D

    Good Luck and TIA!  :)
