Greenacres Art Center

I visited Greenacres Art Center this weekend and loved it--the view and the gardens are breathtaking.  We have a small group (around 50) so we would not be renting a tent for the event.  We would hope to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and perhaps dancing outside.  However, we want to make sure that incase the weather is horrible we have a decent space on the inside we could utilize.  Has anyone been to a wedding or other event at Greenacres where they utilized the inside of the house?  Does anyone have any photos of the inside of the house?  We took some when we were there but because we were so impressed with the outside we only got few photos of the inside.  Thanks in advance for your help!

They have a few photos of the inside on their website.  I think their ballroom would be big enough to hold you and your guests.  Pray for sunshine and no rain though!!!

The ballroom is actually in the basement (a walkout basement but still a basement) and behind a room that contains a private indoor pool (which is off limits and still used by the old owner).  There are windows from the ballroom into the pool area but the windows are completely covered with shades so the room has no view of anything.  In other words, I am not thrilled with the ballroom.  However, I did notice that the website photos included a dining room, which, oddly enough I don't remember seeing so I will need to follow-up on that room.

Hmm, yeah, the ballroom does sound a little less entising after your post.  But yes, the mansion does have a nice dining room.  I am thinking of having my reception there. Our guest list is around 33 so we'll need to rent a tent and everything else.  I love a good challenge.   First, just need to get over that $10,000 Greenacres rental fee!

You may also want to check into the Peterloon Estate (also in Indian Hill off of Hopewell Road). www.peterloon.org

Yes, the price tag is a lot at Greenacres, especially if the weather is horrible and you can't use the outside, which is really what you are paying for.  I am assuming that in your post you meant that you had 300 people (rather than 33), which is why you would definately need a tent.  We have under 50 so, because we are not using much of the grounds, the cost is less than $10,000.  Peterloon is also still on our list but the cost there is more than Greenacres.

I've also visited GreenAcres in consideration for my event.  We would need to be in the tent, but I did take a good look at the inside and looks like the room with the large fireplace on the first flloor would definitely hold up to fifty people.  Plus it has the walk out to the patio and all the windows to see the gardens.  The "dining" room was the small sunken room you passed on the way down to the ballroom and I'd be really surprised if it held more than 25-30 people.  Good luck!!
