Opinions please...

After being engaged for over 2 years my FI and I have finally set a date. 12/1/12. It is far off, however, I want to start some planning now, and I am struggling with an idea. Please offer your honest opinions (I'm not easily offended). I am originally from New England and have always wanted a "winter wonderland" themed wedding. Now that I am here in FL, I am afraid that it would be odd, after all there is no snow, and what if on my wedding day it's 80 degrees? My other idea was red and gold colors with a Christmas-ish theme (my favorite holiday), but FI isn't crazy about that idea. What do you ladies think? TIA!!

I say, stick with your dream.  If you want a winter wedding, do it.  I actually really like the Christmas-ish idea....since you can't really do snow in Florida.  I am also from New England, and I think there is so many New england touches you could use to bring that "wintery" feel to florida.

I like the red/gold color scheme....It could look very elegant!!

I too say go with your dream. You could always incorporate snowflakes into your decor, which could provide a cozy winter feel without actually being up north. I tihnk silver, glittery snowflakes could be fun, but I am sure red and gold would be festive too. Sounds like a fun wedding idea to me!!

yeah you have 2 christmases after christmas sales to pick up everything you need. just be careful its exactly what you want otherwise youll be stuck witha bunch of stuff you cant get rid of. if he doesnt like the red and gold idea don't force it upon him. we girls have to remember it's their wedding too.how about white and gold or white and silver? i LOVE centerpieces made completely out of baby's breath. it looks like snow covered trees ;]

I say go with the winter wonderland theme.  The first image that popped into my mind were silver/shiny branch centerpieces and white flowers.  I think it would be pretty.  I really wanted to do a winter wonderland theme as well but my wedding is in September.  A little too hot for that...
