I Need Ideas....

I am starting to plan my FI surprise b-day party for next September 2010 (it's a milestone b-day).  Since he was born in the 70's I want to plan a disco/retro theme party.  I also want to rent some place out, hire a dj, etc.  I need your help with thinking of venues.  The only one I've come up with so far is the 20th Century Theater in Oakley.  I was thinking I could use their marquee and have written under the now playing "Stayin Alive", "Saturday Night Fever".  I don't need a meal, just snack stuff and drinks.  Preferably a place where I can do a cash bar or bring in my own alcohol. Give me your thoughts and ideas.  TIA!!!

I don't know if you've ever seen the basement room at the newport syndicate, but it totally looks like a disco to me.

Thanks Amanda, I'll check into it.  It does look like it would fit into a 70's theme party.

I believe you can rent the top floor of the Pavilion in Mt. Adams. Not sure how much it will cost, but it has amazing views! I have been to a few parties there and it is cash bar, but I think they give you specials. Another place I have seen parties has been the top room at the Keystone Bar in Covington. It was a nice place and they make good food at the bar. They will have a private bartender upstairs in your room. It was a cash bar at the party i went to. Both of these places you would not need to rent a DJ as they already have music there... If you want to rent everything, check out the Lakeside Lodge in Sharon Woods. You can bring your own food and alcohol too. I through a party there for work once and we had a DJ, dinner, bar...it was realllly nice for how cheap it was!
