Alterations

I tried on my dress for the first time since Feb. and it will def need altered. Its too long and a bit too loose around my waist. I have an appt this friday at Davids Bridal, where I purchased the dress, but mom thinks its too expensive to get it altered there and wants me to go to a lady who altered my cousins dress (which im not too sure about) Anyone heard of Jeanettes Needle & Thread, I think she is out of Mt Orab? One more question, if I go to Davids Bridal they include pressing etc. which it really needs since it has alot of wrinkles from being stored. Is this something that I can get done if I go somwhere else? Also, any Referrals of other places to get dress altered would be great TIA

David's Bridal is generally pretty expensive, yes.  You might try to call Pauline Miller (stitches by pauline dot com) and see if she has an opening.  The girls on here rave about her and speak very highly of her work.  I will be using her myself and have my first dress fitting this coming Monday night.  She does steaming/pressing as well.  GL!

I'm using Pauline, too, and her prices for alterations were extremely reasonable.  To shorten the spaghetti straps, put in bra cups, hem two layers and bustle it, it was only $66 (my bustle was very simple).  To press it would have been another $40, but I'm having a destination wedding so I'll have it pressed there. She said dry cleaners could probably do the pressing, but would charge around $75.Margaret Oldfield also gets good reviews on the board.
