Sell me on your DJ!

I have sent several emails to McFadden and haven't heard back (started with them strictly because they are the house DJ for one of the Syndicate's reception rooms and that is where we are having our reception). I really want to get the DJ hired in the next 2 weeks...SO tell me who your DJ is (esp. if you have already used him) and why I should hire him/her! I need someone who knows how to play to an age-diverse crowd, and can cater to the older crowd at the beginning of the reception, and the younger crowd at the end. Cost is a factor but is not too strict. I am not willing, however, to pay $1000+ for a DJ and would prefer to pay far less. Gotta work the budget! Thanks in advance!

Which room are you in? If you are using the room that is downstairs (I have had several friends use this room), if you use another dj the Syndicate will make it EXTREMELY hard on them during set-up because they have the built-in sound system. Only McFadden's djs will be able to hook into the system.

I am using Mark McFadden. Try calling them during the day. Another girl on here went to a wedding he DJ'd and said he was really good and the dance floor was packed.

We are using VP DJ's; they were recommended by several former Knotties here when I was planning.  They have been wonderful to work with so far and the ladies that used them said they did an awesome job at their weddings.  GL!

I'm using Nemar Maize from Maize Music.  I've heard him several times (at my friend's wedding, Veils and Coctails...) and have been very impressed every single time.  Also, he and his d.j.'s work with Mark McFadden, so it's likely he's familiar with the Syndicate's setup.  He is VERY good at getting everyone to dance, no matter how diverse the crowd.  This is one of the things I am most excited about for my wedding.  His website is www.maize-music.com.

We used Steve Bender Productions and Steve DJ'd our wedding. He cost more than the other dj's that work there, but he was already at the Madison that day so we didnt have to pay more. We paid $880 but that included some lighting. Steve did a great job! We didnt meet with him until that day but i felt like he knew exactly what we wanted. he did a good job of playing songs on our must play and maybe play lists and kept the dancefloor packed. If people would start to trickle off he played songs that got people right back out there. He was good about making announcments, but didnt talk too much and wasnt cheesy at all.

We are using Jeff with Jester Amusements. We attend a annual cruise in/car show and he is the dj of it. He also does cooperate events. I think the most he charges is around $500 and that is with lighting. If you want any more info check my wedding bio or email me at mrsschroeder1 at yahoo dot com.

We are using Hey Mr DJ and actually just met with our DJ, Zach, last night. Hey MR DJ works with some very high quality reception locationours in the area including Royal Oak, Drees Pavillion, Ivy Hills, etc. so I think that already says something about them. Not only are they used/suggested by a lot of awesome reception locations, but you get a DJ and an MC. The advantage to this was explained last night (no pauses, more of a flow, etc.). The person who we met with was seriously awesome. They strive to personalize your reception so that it is extremely unique to you and your FI and know how to get people on the dance floor. These guys also know their stuff; it was so evident in our meeting. Several times he discussed the importance of playing certain music at certain times in order to please the crowd more (i.e. saving old school rap for later in the night when the age range narros and playing more classic rock, motown or whatever earlier on). I HIGHLY suggest Hey Mr. DJ.

I have not booked my DJ yet, but the banquet hall where I am getting married recommended HEY MR DJ and I did speak to them on the phone and Brandon was great! He gave me a great deal as well.
