Ceremony Music Ideas-Harpist?

What are you ladies doing for your ceremony music?  I was thinking about hiring a harpist but I wanted to brainstorm some other ideas with other brides.

We were just going to use an Ipod hook up but then we heard my FI younger brothers band and we decided we will have them play a few songs while people are waiting, then when the bridal party walks the saxophone player will do his thing and for my entrance his younger brother will be playing "1234" by the Plain White T's with his guitar and his friend will accompany him with a saxophone  :)
I think a harpist is very pretty and will give your wedding a very elegant and formal feel. If thats what you want then I would stick with it but if you have a close family friend or family member that plays an instrument you could ask them to modify the song your walking to. Your guests might appreciate that extra personal touch.
A friend of my family hired a fantastic acapella singer for her ceremony. You could also have a few people from your church choir (if you go to church) sing. Or you can do a funny dance like the couple that was on Good Morning America did, in this day and age the possibilities are endless! lol I hope that helped. Happy planning Smile

We are hiring a violinist and cellist to play for the ceremony. The violinist is a friend of mine so she is giving us a discount but the price overall isn't that high anyway. You should check out some churches and see if any of their instrumentalists play for weddings and/or the music department at local colleges. Strings are always good but so are woodwinds, like the flute or clarinet. I used to play flute for weddings back in college. It was great experience and we really didn't charge too much since any extra cash is great for a college student. :)

We used Bonnie Whitehurst (http://www.bonniewhitehurst.com) for our harpist. She was recommended by our venue, we went to listen to her at the church where she is a music director and ended up joining the church! She also plays piano, guitar, and many other instruments - since we had a Shakespearean theme to the wedding, she played various period instruments (like the dulcimer) before the ceremony, and then the harp and guitar during the ceremony and the harp during the cocktail hour. Her prices were very reasonable and everyone loved the music. She also has a lovely voice if you want any vocals.
