Thank You Notes

If you received gifts in the mail before your actual shower did you go ahead and send the thank you?  Some of the people just went to bbb and had the gift mailed to me, but will still come to the shower.  I don't want them to think I'm rude, so I was just seeing how others handled this.  Thanks!

I had the same thing happen to me.  I went ahead and sent the Thank you note and at the end of my note I wrote, something alng the lines of can't wait to see you, looking forward to seeing you at the shower.  I have done the same thing for wedding gifts we have received before the invites were sent.  The people have sent gifts will be in the wedding, they just happened to be in town and wanted to see us open our gifts.  This is what I was told, from someone here. You open the gift and send the note, so the gift giver knows you received it, and put the gift aside until after the wedding.  Hope this helps :)

I would go ahead and send them the thank you card now.  If I'm not mistaken, "etiquette" says that you should send the thank you card when you get the gift, but if the gift is received before the wedding, you shouldn't use the gift until after the wedding.

Okay that's what I did, and I put a note on the thank you.  I have a little pile of gifts just waiting to be used after the wedding, haha.  I was just worried because a few people were making a big deal over the fact that I opened them.  I didn't understand what I was supposed to do with them and if I was being super rude, so thanks for making me feel better about it.  :)

I made it my personal 'policy' to send the 'thankyou' notes as soon as I got a gift. It made it easier for me.
