Kegs vs. Bottled Beer

Quick question, we are having our ceremony/reception at my parents home. We are going to have a small boat filled with ice and iced beverages (beer, cola, etc.) to have during the cocktail hour. we are then having an outside bar with wine, beer, and champagne available during the reception. Now my caterer wants to only have bottle beer as he thinks it will stay cooler during the evening and look better. I agree but I think kegs are less expensive even if it doesn't have the exact aesthetic we are going for. What do you ladies think? Anyone have any experience with the cost of keg vs. the cost of bottled?

Personally I would do kegs, they are cheaper and who cares what they look like, as long as the beer is there everyone will be happy.

kegs are cheaper but bottles are more classy. What if you get a bad tap and foamy beer and long keg lines? What about cans? Cans look good in buckets of ice too and cheaper than bottles.

Missy-that is the BEST POST EVER!! Weddings without beer pong would be like a day without sunshine..what's the point?? My parents do have a ping pong table that has been used for just that as well...sounds like kegs are winning out here

I'm doing kegs! I saw this wedding and how "classy" they kind of made them, I thought it would perfect for our relaxed beach bash. It definitely would work for your backyard wedding too!

It sounds like you are having a relaxed wedding, I would save the money and go with the kegs. Just make sure to have plenty of ice of them and move them where they are supposed to be at least 24hrs before the reception.

Kegs are definitely cheaper than bottled beer, so as long as you don't mind the look of the kegs and whatever type of cups you would use for the beer, you would save money by going that route.
