honeymoon suggestions

My parents are giving my fiance and I a week of their RCI timeshare to use for our early April honeymoon. We are interested in a resort in the Caribbean or Bahamas. All the resorts online look and sound wonderful, but many have only a 60% - 80 % positive rating on trip advisor.com. Although there were more glowing reviews than complaints, some people had some serious issues with many of them. Neither FI nor myself have been to any of the islands. Anyone have a favorite Caribbean or Bahamas island or any resort recommendations? Thanks!

I love St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I've been to both a couple of times while on a cruise. I have not had the chance to stay at any resorts but their downtowns offer lots of shopping and good restaurants. Anguilla is also supposed to be very nice. I would recommend checking out those three islands! Hope that helps.

we did an RCI timeshare week for our honeymoon in San Fran.  The lady at the desk asks us if we want to go see a new model of a hotel that the timeshare company has recently opened.  And if we go see it, we will get a free pass for the public transit.  We're like, okay, we'll go look at it (we were going to just tell Tim's parents about it because they already have 3 weeks a year in this timeshare ring).  DO NOT AGREE TO GO SEE A RECENT MODEL THEY'VE SET UP.  IT'S A SALES SCAM AND TIM AND I WERE STUCK FOR 3 HOURS ON OUR HONEYMOON TELLING THESE CRAZY TIMESHARE PEOPLE WE DID NOT WANT TO BUY A WEEK AT TIMESHARE.

We went to St. Lucia, and LOVED it.  We stayed at Stonefield Villa Estates.  You can see pics of our hm in my married bio.

We loved St. Thomas, St. Maartan, Antigua was a favorite, Barbados. Can't go wrong with Southern Caribbean. Bahamas was nice, but I suggest St. Thomas or something more South.

My family has RCI timeshare, so I am pretty familiar with their system.  I would recommend ONLY looking at Gold Crown rated resorts (the highest rating RCI gives).  That is all we ever stay at, and when you are talking about going outside of the US, the Gold Crown is even more important, as they tend to have slightly lower gold crown standards.  I would not stay at a non-US RCI resort that is not Gold Crown. We stayed at the Sandyport Beaches Resort in Nassau a few years ago, and although it is a Gold Crown, I WOULD NOT recommend it.  It was very boring, no activities, the beach was ok but nothing special, and the rooms were not the greatest.  That's about all the suggestions I have.  If you find anything fantastic, please let me know!  We are talking about doing an all-inclusive w/o using RCI, but would be open to that route as well.
