TTNOLES :)

Hi there!

I see that you are from Boston. I'm surprising FI with a trip in a couple weeks for a short vacay and wanted to see if you could recommend some things for us to do or places to go eat.

We are staying near the Commons, if that helps!

TIA for any advice you can give!!

Sure, no problem!  (I have a lot on my Boston tour list because we have had SO many visitors sine we moved here.  It really is an awesome city and there is SO much to do!!)

Definitly have to do the North End for dinner one night.  Better than Little Italy in NYC.  BEST ITALIAN.  there are over 250 restuarants in a 5 block radius and you can't go wrong at any.  Don't expect great customer service though, they are rude.

    Walk through the public gardens.

Take a duck tour (they only run through November and book quickly so make reservations before hand...google boston duck tours and they will come up).

Have drinks at Top at the Hub at the Prudential.  It is the tallest building in Boston and you can see views of Fenway, RI, and NH (really beautiful, don't do dinner though..just drinks).  it is pretty $$$ but if you only have a drink you can sit at the bar and get the same experiene. Plus I thnk they have late jazz on Friday/Saturdays.  Veyr romantic.

My favorite restuarant is the Barking Crab. It is kind of a dive-y place but has great seafood and has been featured numerous times in verious TV spots.  Very Boston-ian.

Walk the Freedom trail through Boston (total of 3-4 miles).  You get to see Paul Revere'es house, the Old North Church, Charlestown...there is little bits of history every step of the way.  They have free brohure guides at the start when you start at the common (your hotel will point you exactly where to go).

Go to Harvard!! Just walk through the campus, its so beautiful and you can see the Charles river and the crew teams.  Very cool.

Take a tour of Fenway.  They are lik $14 for two hours but SO much fun.  They take you behinjd the scenes into the press box and "bakstage" there is so much cool baseball history!

There is a place off the common called beantown pub.  You can drink a sam adams beer while looking at sam adams grave..kinda cool.

Boston is a walking city so wear comfortable shoes and walk it out.  There is so much more to see when you are on foot so I recomend doing that as muh as you can. Walk through beacon Hill (down Charles Street), Newbury street (great shopping), and the South End (fabulous Bistros).  The city itself is actually really small so you can walk most places.  And the T is fairly inexpensive so you can get around that way too.

    also there is..

    -sam adams brewery tours
    -new england aquarium
    -fanueil hall and quincy market
    -Museum of Fine Arts

I do the Boston tour all the time with friends and there is so much to see and do.  I hope this helps, if you need anything else just let me know.

Not to butt in, but I second the Top of the Hub suggestion!  That is a favorite of my FI and I.  We got engaged there!  But definitely, just got for drinks, food is $$$!

I also second Cambridge (Harvard Square).  Its one of my favorite places in Boston, even though I went to grad school right near there, walking around that old section NEVER got old!  Love it!

    Great Job TTNOLES.
