Venue pricing?!

Hi everyone!

I recently went out to The Lange Farm in Dade City and it is just breathtaking. It is everything I want for my perfect wedding, however, it costs 4300 dollars just for the ceremony and reception, not including catering. And my problem is I have no idea what I'm doing so I don't know what's a normal/reasonable price and I'm hoping someone here can help me. I would love to get married at this place but only if the price is right.

my friends got married there a few years ago and I agree, the place is beautiful. They planned the whole wedding in just 3 months. If I remember correctly, there are different set ups and the prices vary. They got married under the oak tree with the reception inside. Have you tried negotiating the price with them.

Unfortunately our options were a little bit limited because of how many guests we're going to have. We have about 130 people, and only about 15 or so aren't close family so we don't have a lot of space for cuts. All of the ceremony venues are the same price it's the reception areas that are different and we got one of their lower prices because we're choosing to get married on a Sunday. The only other thing we're still negotiating on are the linens which, if we get our way and bring our own, will save us about 500 dollars.

that's expensive IMO. It really depends on what your budget is. If you are having a $20k wedding then that is fine. do the budget work up on the knot.. you'll get a better idea.

Do a consult with a wedding planner. Many offer free ones and they can give you good ideas about pricing on venues and suggestions.

Thanks for your suggestions. We decided I used to work at a very ritzy ALF  where they very recently did a very big add on which included basically a ballroom that they call the Crystal Room and I went to see my old boss who is their head chef and we decided to do the ceremony there and he's going to do the food. This is awesome because they're not charging us to use the room, they're just asking us to pay for the food. =] so we're very happy. This also means we can move our date up which makes me very happy.Laughing

You should check out Palace Grande.  If you need more info let me know.  we are getting married there in June 2012 but have been to alot of events there and I can tell you he gave me an amazing deal.  I will be having my ceremony and reception there and they can definately accomadate that many guests plus some.
