Destination Wedding on a Budget

Hello,
I am brand new to this site; just created an account today!
We have a budget of $5k for everything except our flight. We want a beach ceremony & a casual reception to follow. I have found Grand Plaza Hotel in St Pete Beach & the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel on Lido Beach. However, does anyone have any other suggestions? I kinda wanted to have a beach ceremony & have our reception right on the beach like under a pavilion or a tent. I know our budget is tight but it has to be possible somehow! We only have 35 guests attending.
We plan to have another casual reception at home after our wedding.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks Smile

Re: Destination Wedding on a Budget

  • Try Sand Key Beach, its just south of Clearwater Beach. I have seen many weddings- they have a huge tent right on the beach for the reception.

For only 35 guests its free to get married on Clearwater beach. We had our rehearsal dinner at nearby Island way grill for about 40 ppl and spent under 2k. We asked for the lunch menu and served it around 7.

  • Also - Honeymoon Island has tented beach receptions too. Clearwater Beach is my favorite so I like the above suggestion best, but Honeymoon Island might be more affordable. I'm not sure of their pricing. Good luck!

  • I too am looking to do a wedding and ceremony for under 5k, my great idea is a big beach house that I can rent and have dinner catered. Any suggestions you get I will now be looking for as well. Any rental company suggestions for chairs, etc or the estimated cost to put a beach wedding together myself?

I'm in your same boat! Only place I found in budget is the Helmsley Sandcastle in Sarasota but as far as beach houses, they're expensive from what I have found bc I I want a beach ceremony & reception & all at one location so a beach house would work out. However, can't find anything in my budget. Let me know what you find, please!

I book our rentals for the wedding through itrip.net, our rentals were awesome. Many of them require a minimum number of days stay

How about an all-inclusive beach wedding package? Tide the Knot starts at 600 and doesn't exceed $3,000. http://www.sophantheamphotography.com/vendor-spotlight-tide-the-knot-beach-weddings/

Thank you! I looked into them & they're very reasonable! I am waiting to hear back from them! I just need to find a way to get a tent on the beach or find a pavilion on St Pete Beach & way of transportation for everyone.

Didn't know you could that for rehearsal dinners! We're looking at the Island Way Grill for ours...didn't even think to ask if we could use the lunch menu. Thank you for that great idea!! :)
