Cake Tasting...and question

Hello Ladies,I went cake tasting today w Affordable Creations, How exciting. It was a pretty good experience, I also meant w the lady who does the flowers. She is so funny.. Are any of you using them for your flowers?Okay so a great long time friend of my FI family (kind of like our childrens extra grandmother) is helping me with the planning. She has offered to purchase the cake. So she went w me today for the tasting. We took them some pics of ideas that I love. There price was very reasonable. She has insisted that I continue to shop around even telling me that she has heard that Sams makes wedding cakes if you take them a pic. Have anyone ever heard of this? Not that I mind shopping around but when u have something good shouldnt u grab it?

It's always tough when someone is purchasing something for you b/c they feel that they should be the one to determine where you get it or how much you spend. I have not heard of Sams doing wedding cakes, but I know Kroger does so I'm sure Sams would as well. If you really like what you tasted last night and think it's a good thing, then just explain to her that you would rather get your cake from there and if she wants to split the cost with you then that's an option??? Good luck!

Yeah, its def hard when someone is offering to pick up the bill.  That really does give them the veto power, but it wouldn't hurt anything to shop around a little.  Maybe go to a few other places and make sure that the original is what you truly want.  If in the end you are still going back to the original place, then you should go w/ your gut.  Just b/c someone has offered to pay doesn't mean you HAVE to take it, either.  Just explain that you truly appreciate the offer, but are more than happy to take care of it.  GL!

I am using Affordable Creations for my cake.  It was the most reasonable I could find that was available on my date.  I haven't heard of Sam's doing wedding cakes, but I guess it is worth a try.  As far as the flowers there.  I meet with them too and yes she was funny, but she was pushing fake flowers on me when I keep telling he I wanted fresh.  So I chose another florists.  Hope this helps

I thought Affordable Wedding Creations were a mess! Some really good, but others really lopsided, icing not smooth....I found a baker that does beautiful work with delicious cake, for cheap! She will work with in your budget, just let her know what it is and she stays with in it. In Northern Ky, but delivers. Her cell # is 859-912-3223.  All her flavors are the same price and she lets you choose as many flavors you want and will even do half and half on the larger tiers. Sams' has like 3 designs and 4 flavors, plus the cake is frozen.  She does like 30 flavors and fillings. $2 for Buttercream $3 for fondant and cupcakes for .65 and up.
