Reception Venues

Hey everyone!
We are looking for a place to have an October reception, problem is, Syracuse is limited on the amount of places that hold a large number of people. We did our first guest list and it was up to 227...and that was before EITHER of our parents got a hold of it!

I really like Justin's, but I've heard it's really cramped. Has anyone been to a large reception there or have other ideas on where to go?

My wedding is going to be at justins but we are only going to have 80 people. I went to their open house for their brides 2 weeks ago and I'd say there were a couple hundred people there give or take a little. It definately seems like itd be too cramped for a reception of that many people. Even with everyone not contained in just the banquet room it seemed a bit crowded, so I'd definately look for something bigger for your size guest list. It's been a while since I looked at venues but if I think of anything with more space i'll let you know:)

I know of a couple that had a huge wedding (I believe around 300 people) and got married at the OnCenter.

    I'd check that out.

Thank you! I looked at Justin's for my last engagement, and thought it would be packed with 125 people in there. I just called and they are booked anyway. I don't know what gave me the impression that I'd be able to book someplace for October!

That's a great idea! I didn't even think of that. I really would like it at a hotel.

My sister hasnt booked for Oct either. Its do-able...but def rough with such a large party. I suggest OnCenter too.

I have to ask it...how in the world do you have a guest list of over 200 people without your parents adding to it yet? Please tell me you have each added your own families and just having asked for parents friends...

That is a high number. Our list is at 250. It was around there when we first made it and we since have taken people off and added on new ones...

I would say find something that holds over 200. If you LOVE it.... book it and cut down on a few people... Thats what we did at least. We went with the Genesee Grande and it holds 230. We are inviting 250 and hoping about 30-40 don't come :) Our wedding is in July and we already have 62 nights at the hotel booked so this makes me nervous!

I also heard the oncenter and the Events Company is in the process of opening a new place that is big!
