Your pictures made me think again about something I'm not totally sure about.  Obviously, you walked down the aisle as man and wife - yay!  Then you came out of the church again later to the bubbles.  How much time did you leave in between the 2 and what did you do (if anything) during that time?  Did all the guests know to wait for you to make an exit before going to the reception?

The wedding coordinator at the church had us go straight into a small room when we walked back up the aisle.  We spent a few minutes in the room just the two of us gushing and enjoying each other.  Then everyone lined up outside and we made our "exit"... then we went right back in the church for some family photos while the rest of our guest loaded up on the party buses.

It was a little awkward to leave the alter, leave the church, go back in the church for pictures then leave the church again for real.... but it worked.

OK, thanks.  This is how I figure people have to do it; it just seems so weird!  But I guess it's expected.

Good question! I was a little confused on this too!

It definitely seemed a little awkward when I thought it all through, but I think that is the norm for weddings I guess... our guests were pretty content to just mingle and chat while they were waiting for our grand exit and in reality it is only a few minutes (5 or 10 max) that they are waiting.  In the grand scheme of things- not worth over planning.
