Ohio-Cincinnati

I just saw your post regarding the Cincinnati Club.  I was wondering if you have any ideas how flexible they are on their minimums.  I just got some info from them and see that their minimum for certain rooms on a Saturday evening is $6000 and $7000 and I think the minimum for the Oak Room is around $10,000.  We will most likely have between 50-100 guests and even if we go for all of the high end stuff there is no way we could meet any of the minumums.  Also, how do you think the rooms would work for such a small group?  I love the look of the Oak Room but not sure it would work for a group around 100.  What are your thoughts?  Thanks!

Oak room for 100? - no way.  You would be lost in it - it's beautiful, but it's way too big for a group that size.  We had a 100 in the Harrison Room and it was perfect.  Had all 150 showed up, I think we would have been extremely cramped. And, doh!  You just reminded me.  We had a lower minimum because our wedding was in March, but we more than met it by doing some of the more "extravagant" touches (our theoy was we'd already budgeted a set amt, so why not make it extra special for the people who were coming). As for it being flexible, I think they'd actually be willing to work with you, as long as you don't go all bridezilla on them. They were INCREDIBLY accommodating when my guest list when all wacky just a couple of weeks out.If you need more info, feel free to email me at myknottie name at gmail dot com.  hth :)

Thanks for the information.  Its too bad the Oak room is too big for our group.  However, I have looked at your wedding photos and the room you used looked fantastic.  I originally had my heart set on Greenacres Art Center but, although the space outside is lovely, the inside space is limited if we would need to go inside for due to weather.  I also was considering Peterloon Estate but can't quite handle paying $7500 for venue rental alone for such a small group.  Were there any other places along the lines of beautiful classic/ historic venues that you looked at when you were searching for a location?

We looked at the Verdin Bell Center, but FI's sister used it for her wedding, he wanted to be unique, and I'd had an awards dinner there one night and was absolutely not impressed with the food (I've been told by other knotties that the food for their weddings was fantastic, though, so maybe they put more effort in for a wedding). We also seriously considered the Phoenix.  They were at almost the exact same price point as the Cincinnati Club, but we liked the aesthetics at the Cincinnati Club a lot more, so we went with them.
