Make up trial?

This may sound stupid but I was thinking of not having a make-up trial.
I wanted to originally, just because it's a "norm" but i wanted airbrush makeup for the wedding because my skin absorbs all other make up and i didnt want that with my pics.
    Originally i was thinking to have my make up trial on the day of our engagement pics too.
But, I had such a hard time finding any air brush makeup artists in my area, or area of the wedding and finally found someone but she is almost two hours away from the venue.  She would charge me for travel for the trial and i just don't know if it's worth it. Can i just show her what my idea in mind is on the morning of and make sure it looks right as we go? 

Did you guys do your own make up for engagement pics? What did you think?  I never wear makeup so I don't think i'm good at it.

I also was thinking about doing airbrush, but I'm wondering what the pros are of airbrush vs regular makeup. I'm assuming it covers imperfections better, lighter on your skin... how is it when you sweat? Also does anyone know how it is if you have sensitive skin? Regular foundations always make me itch and break out

I am THE biggest fan of airbrush.... if you have never had it done before, definitely go check it out at Sephora.  It is super light, but gives perfect coverage.  I have horribly uneven skin tone (Thank You birth control and 4 summers in the desert) w/ really bad scarring and my foundation was flawless.  It lasted all day long through sweating and running around and was not cakey.  Def worth a shot!

Yay! Sounds like just what I need! I'm going to go there this week. One of my BM happens to work there so maybe I can get them to give me a deal! Probably not, but always worth a try Thanks for the info!

I did my own makeup for the engagement pics.  We did them a long time ago, so well before I was thinking about professional makeup and things like that.  I think my makeup turned out fine; it looks very natural (which is my normal look).  Sure, it would be great if it was a little more dramatic, but I'll just save that for the wedding day.

I AM going to do a makeup trial though; I'd be too worried if I didn't.  Can you travel to the MUA for the trial and save on the travel portion of it?  I guess that will be hard if you want to use the make up for engagement pics though.
