Cake

Ok, so Im looking into cakes and I'm just wondering what a reasonable price is. Im looking into SweetEndings in Jamesville but I don't know what to be expecting price wise and don't want t be slapped in the face if Im thinking too low. Im buying for about 175 people.

So what have you guys spent??

I have been quoted between 3.50 and 4.50 a slice. You can get it a little less if you do sheet cakes. Cupcakes are much cheaper too.

We are getting our cake through Biscotti. We ordered a 3 tier cake with a half sheet for 125 people and it's just under $400.

I've looked around a little, and think we may go with a bakery that will cost us about $450 for 150 people. Less if we decide to do a smaller tiered cake with sheets cakes in the back...

Emie- that is exactly what we are doing... we will have a nice, small, 2 tiered cake to cut (and one tier to save for our first anniversary).  Then in the back we will have one or two sheet cakes for our guests... it will save us over $200 dollars!!!  woot woot!

That sounds perfect! I really want things to be simple but classy, and a HUGE cake might be over the top. And ofcourse, since we're paying for the bulk of the wedding keeping the cost low will be key!

I had my perfect wedding cake all planned out, but enough for 175 people and the top layer to save was getting to be a bit much. I still have to talk to the baker but Im pretty sure Im going to the cupcake idea. We're going for hints of anything Irish throughout and my colors are green and darker green, so Im going to have the top piece with a slight cascade of shamrocks and then cupcakes with diff shades of green frosting and random shamrocks. Im pretty excited.

I recently got married and we paid $2.50 per slice (from a family friend).  I was quoted elsewhere at around $3-4 per slice.
