First time poster - Limos?

Hi everyone! I'm Kate and I'm a long time (but very sporadic) lurker here. I'm getting married October 1st in Syracuse to my high school sweetheart :) Ceremony is at First Presbyterian United and reception will be at Justin's Grill (food and mashed potato bar were very important to the fiance!)!

Hopefully I'm not repeating a question that was recently posted, but I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a limo co.  I've contacted a handful and half of them don't have any vehicles available for our date (yikes! guess I waited too long!!). S&S, American and Diamonds have vehicles that will fit our wedding party (11 ppl), but the S&S and American quotes seem really high for just 3-4 hours ($800-$900) and I'm not really certain what Diamonds reputation is (I'd like to get a good price, but don't want to end up with an awful vehicle/driver). I saw a few positive S&S reviews on here (and we've used them a lot in the past for wine tours), but it seems like their quote was pretty high (of course, I've never booked for a wedding before so maybe that's normal?).

Wow! Sorry that was so long, but any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

We used S&S and they cut us a good deal b/c we used 3 vehicles and were finished with them early, so they could still use them for proms later that night.

What time do you need the limo?  Chances are, you are getting quoted high b/c you are only using a few hours during the middle of the day/later afternoon/early evening (which basically means they can't use the vehicle for anything else during the daytime or evening, so they have to price high to make up for their loss of use, if that makes any sense).

My suggestion would be to shop around for a better price, then call back to S&S to let them know what you found.  They may be willing to go a little lower to beat their competition.

ETA:  We arranged everything through Jamie Bly (if you talk to him, tell him Monica Siegfried referred you) and one of our drivers was John.

We are using American. They did my sisters wedding and were very professional. The company is easy to work with too. We are getting the biggest limo bus they have and for the four hours and are paying right in the 1000 price range. The prices sound about right but like u mentioned- there us a lot to be said for reliability!

Also, what type of limo?  For a hummer, escalade, navigator.... those type of larger, higher-end limos... $200/hour is pretty dead on.

Welcome, Kate!  I'm not in Syracuse and I'm not having a limo, but I am having shuttle buses for guests.  And let me tell you, that was WAY more expensive than I was expecting!  It blows.  We're paying $1400 to have 2 school buses transport people!  So unfortunately, the prices you listed don't sound out of the realm of possibility.  Good luck with trying to find a lower one though!

Thanks everyone!! I'm glad the quotes were actually in a reasonable range! Man, weddings are expensive :) I think I'll do as everyone suggested and go back to S&S or American with some cheaper quotes and see if they can go a little lower on the price.  In the end, I'd rather pay more to make sure they are reliable!
Thanks again for the info/advice :)

We are using Caz Limo. I think they quoted me for a 12 passenger (escalade, if that matters) and it was around $750, and the tip they said is $100...I don't know if this helps...

We got a quote and a flyer from a bridal show from SandS and we ended up getting a 20 passenger party bus for around 700 for 4 hrs

FYI - We ended up booking with American. I got some cheaper quotes and called Ron at American back... they came down about $250 from their original quote - $695 for 16 passengar limo for four hours (I'll take that!) :)
If anyone's looking for limo services, try American (and ask for Ron). :)
