Syracuse receptions

We just got engaged and are already confused about where to look for our wedding reception.  We've been to a million weddings and want somewhere a little different.  We want everyone in one room, we don't want anywhere with a bunch of small rooms, and we don't want just a boring plain ballroom.  Any ideas?  We're thinking maybe 150 people.  Thank you!

We chose The Hotel Syracuse. They have 2 or 3 different ballrooms to choose from and they are far from boring. www.hotelsyracusebanquets.com Also, Amy their coordinator is amazing! Good luck!

If you are open to a little trip, check out the wineries along the Finger Lakes.  They are absolutely gorgeous and provide the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding.  Very little decoration needed.
We are actually having our ceremony in Syracuse at our church then renting a party bus to drive all of our guests out to the Glenora winery for our reception.  I couldn't imagine a place more breathtakingly beautiful and perfect for us... plus we totally love wine!
Sherry Spotts, their wedding coordinator, is my saving grace.  She has been such a huge help with planning our wedding and I am so confident that she will help to make our day a dream come true.
Congrats on the engagement and good luck with your planning!

We just booked our wedding/reception at Justin's Grill, in Syracuse.
We looked at 4 places previous, and when we went to Justin's, ther minute I walked in.. I was sold..
The room the hold the reception/events in is beautiful.
I just went there for a dinner and the food is so good!

Look at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Syracuse.... it's a VERY different ballroom. I booked it for next year- 7/9/11, and we're planing on 150 people. It's a ballroom on the TOP FLOOR and is a "circular" shape with windows overlooking the city :)

Were having ours at Wysocki's in Cicero. They have 3 rooms to choose from, 1 of which is already very decorated in white for a wedding. They also have outdoor ceremony areas if you'd like to do it all in one place (we are). Its family owned, the grandson Jim being the current owner and he's great. Ann is in charge on weekends and i LOVE her! The prices are out of this world cheap and I have nothing but good things to say about the food.

We are having ours at Borio's Restaurant, in Cicero. It is a family owned restaurant righton Oneida Lake.  Chuck and Marty have been an absolute pleasure to work with and are really willing to make your day what you want it to be.  I am getting married in September so I don't have the day of review but it really has been a pleasure working with them.  They are flexible, understanding, and very helpful!  Not the normal ball room.  The entire back wall is windows overlooking Oneida Lake!  Beautiful :o)

Oh yeah another neat place to look is onondaga parks-- We looked at the Arrow head lodge in Oneida Shores it was also really beautiful and different.  I too was looking for something different and I just love the outdoors and water.

I snuck over here from The Bump...we were married 4 years ago but I love seeing everyone's excitement! We had our reception at the Empire Room and cannot say enough good things about them (as a matter of fact, one friend was so impressed with our reception, they planned theirs at the Empire Room the next year!). My cousin recently had her reception at Lakeshore Country Club and it was beautiful. There was no sponsor required and the ballroom looks out on the lake. Really a beautiful spot.
    Good luck all and congratulations!!

Ours is at Wysocki's as well, and plan to get married in the gazebo behind it. I haven't personally been to a wedding there but all the comments I hear from people who HAVE been there are just excellent, have not heard a bad word about them from anyone. Plus, their prices are fabulous for someone on a tight budget. Yay for another Wysocki's bride! :-)
