Eloping?

I was attempting to be all happy so-to-be-bride, but this just isn't me.  I think we would both be happier not doing the (already) non-traditional wedding I was planning, and just eloping instead.

I'm looking for places in the area that would be a nice backdrop for the ceremony.  I'm thinking maybe a park with a gazebo, or something.  Somewhere that has a nice restaurant nearby for a late lunch or early dinner.

If you have any ideas, please send them my way!  Thanks.

I'm confused... you are looking to elope locally?

Yeah.  Maybe eloping isn't the right word for it...?  I'm really not sure.  Just a few people outside somewhere with a dinner afterwards.

I've been to Vegas, I hated it there.  I don't want to pay for the flight.

I don't think "elope" is the right word... lol.

What part of CNY are you looking for?  There are tons and tons of beautiful wineries around the Finger Lakes (more WNY, but still pretty close) that could accommodate a small wedding... many of them have a restaurant on property.

Closer to Syracuse... let's see... I'm stuck right now for outside ideas, but I'll let you know if I think of anything.

If you are not really concerned about the ceremony (especially the planning part), you could always just do a JP wedding and go out to a nice dinner afterwards.

Yeah, I figured it wan't right... this really isn't my thing, lol.  (I'm an engineer, this is far out of my comfort zone!)

I googled "eloping in NY" and I got websites talking about getting married in central park and whatnot, so that's why I went with that word.  :)

    I'm thinking Syracuse area.

I'm not really concerned about much at all.  I just want a white dress and a ring, haha.

Borios came to mind. Beautiful view of the lake, 90% sure theres a gazebo, I know they do weddings. Theres an outdoor patio or smaller banquet rooms, or just regular dining.

This was the first thing that came to my mind! They have a gazebo, and then another area where there's just an arch thingy. Not sure if they have minimums on prices and stuff, but it's worth checking out. Although we went to a wedding there last summer and there were boats going by and people outside waiting for another wedding.  You could also check into local parks, and then just go to dinner somewhere nearby after- Upper Onondaga Park is really nice!

Thornden Park by the SU Campus, my co-worker's wife is a member of the Rose Society that gardens the roses at Thornden, and they do have a nice big beautiful gazebo surrounded by the roses. You can see it right on Ostrom Ave, by Ernie Davis hall

Kind of a drive, but would be a beautiful location, and fun little day trip for your nearest and dearest is Raquette Lake Navigation, in raquette Lake in the Adirondacks. The Captain can marry you, and they have awesome lunches and dinners. You don't even have to rent out the boat, just pay for the meals you will be eating! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a small wedding.
