You CNY knotties made me obsessed..

with getting a veil!! I tried to get pics of my dress with each type of veil (they're not great) Which do you think would go BEST with the dress? Is there one you think would not go at all? I'm leaning towards birdcage or chapel, but I also don't know what would work well with a headband with tons of bling. I paid $175 for the stinking thing, so I'm definitely wearing it ALL NIGHT! And definitely don't want it over my face (unless birdcage)

Smile  Yay for veils!!   I LOVED mine and can't imagine walking down the aisle without one.  Like I always say... veil and train... you only get to wear them once so make them count.

As for the pics you posted... I am torn between the fingertip length (with a sparkly trim to compliment the sparkly belt)... or court/waltz length... but I kind of gravitate toward longer veils (mine was wicked long cathedral length)... although... the birdcage pic you have posted I really like (and I normally do NOT like those type)... I can't figure out whether it's actually the veil that I like on her... or just the fact that she looks like she is having so gosh darn much fun.... either way... it's a beautiful pic and proof that a genuine smile makes any outfit shine...  can't wait to see what you pick!

Also- if you have time, Kara and I both had ours made from an online seller for wicked cheap!  I don't remember the seller off the top of my head, but I can look it up if you need the name.  Bridal salons charge an arm and a leg for veils... save your money!!!

ETA:  The name of the seller I bought my original veil from was CustomStitchesByRoxanne.com  and I bought my second veil (change of heart... went with a drop veil instead)... from http://www.occanseydesigns.com/index.html It was a little more expensive, but the quality was a little bit better, I think.

    HTH!

Personally I love longgg veils. You can only do it once Laughing I bought a cathedral length with mine and I love it. I think you could rock either one but I like the way the long veils look... really elegant, very "bride"-sie.

I like the fingertip length with this dress, but I think any of them could work.  (I also really like fingertip lengths, so I'm biased.)  Have YOU tried any veils on with your dress yet?  Different people look different in veils.

Where's your venue?  I feel like different types of venues can help you decide on your veil.  I'm getting married outside, and I just LOVE the drama of a really long cathedral veil with an outdoor view.
I love the birdcage veil with the venue in that photo (ballroom).
Hope you're having fun with the shopping!

To the ladies who already bought a veil - How do you ensure that it's the EXACT color of your dress?  I'm super worried about ordering mine!

Well... you can always order a swatch of the veil material... if you are really that worried about it.  My dress was white... so I just ordered white... seemed pretty simple to me.  It's not like I was going to waste my time obsessing over whether their white was white enough to match my white.  In my world white=white... but then again, I try to keep things as simple as possible and not stress myself out over the fifty-five-million-shades-of-bridal-"white"color wheel when possible.  ... although I have heard there are brides who insist their BM dresses all be cut form the same bolt of fabric so they are the EXACT same shade of whatever color they pick.  Craziness, I think, but to each their own.

As for the veils... They had white, ivory and possibly diamond white... don't really remember... but...

TBH- if it doesn't match perfectly to the exact thread color perfectly exactly... does it realllllly matter anyway?  I mean... realllllly??

*If it realllly does matter, you can always just order your veil from the same designer as your dress.  It will likely cost a whole lot more, but I guess if it's really that important to you, than it would be worth it.  I was more into saving money than matching "exact" whites... but that's just me.... and my veil looked just fine.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

    Thanks for your opinions/ideas!

So at least I ruled out elbow length! I am going to try on a bunch at my 2nd fitting Friday.

I usually would agree that the venue (or even theme) could help decide, but my dress definitely doesn't even fit the venue or theme! We are getting married on a huge deck attached to an old horse barn. Most of the decorations are rustic/natural feeling, but there are also nice, sparkly, pretty things thrown in :) Didn't want to sacrifice how I looked because of the venue!

I DEFINITELY will not be buying from the dress store unless they want to give me a SUPER good deal. I'll definitely check out that site, Monica. Thanks!

My dress is ivory and I just ordered the veil in ivory.  To be honest, when I tried it on, I didn't notice if it was the *exact* same color as the dress or not.  It looked good though, so it must have matched okay!  Unless there's lace on the edges of the veil or you have a tulle dress, I doubt a really exact match would be needed just because the veil material is so different from the dress.

Thank you!  This was what I was worried about.  My dress isn't WHITE white... it's ivory.  I knew it'd be easier to match regular white, and I was afraid that if I ordered ivory from another company, it'd be a much different color.
