Wedding Update Wednesday!! (PIP)

So as I said last week, I will do my best to take over this job since I have the furthest-away wedding and can commit for a while, if all are ok with that :) And, I'll start first.

1. Since the venue in Philly was no bueno (to recap: GORGEOUS venue on the inside, located in the hood outside... not a good neighborhood, plus just a huge traveling burden on everyone), we've turned our attention back to Syracuse and Westchester County (WC) where FI is from. WELP, we've been negotiating back and forth with a venue in WC and theyve knocked almost $30/pp off the price just for us. In fact, their package is $50 cheaper than the Genesee Grande AND gives us sooo much more. So, this week I'm going to call my family members to make sure that they would be ok with traveling to WC (they are of lower economic means, and have like 5 kids, so I need to find out before I fall more in love with this place if they can even make it) and if they say yes, then FI and I will go check it out!

2. We got our e-pics from my friend! Commence AW-ing

    LOVE the pics!!!

I'm sorry the Philly venue didn't work, but it sounds like you have an even better plan in Westchester!!

I had a good week- got our samples from VistaPrint, picked up 3/5 BM dresses and picking up my veil Friday :-)

    Beautiful pictures Lorna!

I know it's just paper, but my invitation search is driving me crazy.  I received my etsy vendor sample this week, and don't like it.  This is why I'm thankful I have time, because I can't decide on anything!

Jane, what did you think of your VistaPrint samples? I got mine and both Lucas and I thought they looked cheap.... I got samples from 123print.com a while back and I liked those much better and they're in the same price range if not even a little cheaper. I'm looking at David's Bridal invites now, and for the price they look pretty sweet, so I'm gonna order some samples from them.

Kks (sorry, forgot your name!), I know EXACTLY what you mean! I'm driving myself nuts over invites and the make matters worse, Lucas ACTUALLY has a pretty strong opinion about invite designs! "No, I don't like it. Too simple." "Too much going on." "Too colorful, it needs to be a little cleaner." "Not enough color." Arggg cmon babe, you're not supposed to give a crap! LOL I do love that we also have plentyyyy of time so I'm gonna have fun ordering samples from various vendors and then we can make the final decision a little later.

It's Kim :)  I have over 10 samples of invitations, kinda sad lol.  The hardest part for me is finding the right purple.  I don't want light lavender, and I don't want deep royal.  I'm close to ordering the ones from WPD that I posted here a loooong time ago, but I'm not ready to settle yet.  Must keep searching haha.

    Adorable photos, Lorna!!

Ugh, I hated doing invitations.  Good luck, ladies!

As for my wedding update, we went on our minimoon (small recap post to come) and it was awesome!!

And DH finally started his thank you cards last night.  He's all psyched to do 5 a day until they're done.  :-)

Welcome back! And tht's awesome that DH is excited to do his share of the TY cards, so rare these days ;)

Kim, have you considered orchid/lilac? They're lighter, like lavender, but have more a pink/red/warm hue than lavender which is more of a blue/cool hue.

I'm going to try the other ones you suggested!! I know exactly what you mean about Vista, though. And to be honest, I am SO nervous about ordering them because I'm afraid we'll get them back and realize they do look cheap, something is missing, etc.. and we'll have wasted a lot of money.

I'm going to try the other sites. We need to make a decision and move on it so that they'll be sent out at the end of November. We have quite a few out of town guests, so we want to make sure they have adequate notice.

Thank you for the other recommendations!

I'm having the same issue with my colors, specifically for my bridesmaids dresses. I want a deep raspberry-magenta-fuschia-ish color, and everything I find is either too pink, too purple, too matte, too shiny, etc. I found a gorgeous sateen dress that was perfect in color but didn't suit my rustic/country location and theme. I ended up making my own invitations from scratch because I couldn't find anything that was "just right". It's exhausting being a perfectionist!

I have the same problem with the blue I choose for my wedding. I thought it was "periwinkle," but apparently that's a debatable shade because every website has a different shade that they call periwinkle! It could be anything from light sky blue to deep royal blue to straight up purple! My bridesmaid dress was my first wedding "purchase" because I saw it in a store and it was the perfect shade. I thought it was too early, but after checking about 10 different dress websites, I realized the trouble I would have finding that color anywhere else so we scooped them up!

Lorna...those pics are absolutely gorgeous!!! Finally booked the florist and sent in deposit, going to check out BMs dresses this weekend, and going to brides world on Sunday with FI at the doubletree, which happens to be our reception venue :) Also, Starting to gather from parents, fmil, and friends for STDs, even though They do not go out until January. Pretty much it for this week, along with going broke and the ever so annoying wedding nightmares.

There's a victorian lilac color for BM dresses on the Alfred Angelo and Bill Levkoff websites that I think I would like.  It's more of a medium purple, but I need to see it in person.  WIMM, I've seen so many different shades of periwinkle, it's ridiculous lol.

My FI and I booked photobooth and DJ.  Purchased the last of our apothecary jars or (A POT ARY jars  as my mother calls them) for our candy bar.  Started our monogram, and my template for our seating chart display.

Has anyone heard of button bouquets?! I think I'm in love!  I want to see if anyone makes them locally so I can see what they look like in person, but OMG some of them are absolutely beautiful!

    Hope everyone is doing well!!

That's so true since colors can look very different online. My mom loves to tell the wedding nightmare story where my aunt picked out their dresses from a swatch book in a pretty blush pink color, but when they came in, they were pepto-bismol pink! It was too late to reorder so they had to rock the pepto-pink dresses!

I'm a day off... but I wanted to update anyway.  :P

    1. Paid off my DJ
    2. Told the hotel how many/what kinds of room to hold
    3. Canceled the rest of the hotels we didn't go with
    4. Looked at garters... am planning on just making my own, but I had to find what colors I wanted to go with... I just feel like I can't find anything I really like that isn't unnecessarily overpriced
    5. Looked at hair ribbons.... WHY ARE THEY SO EXPENSIVE and have no return policies when they're ONLINE. I can't tell if I'm going to like them or not!!! grrrr
