ok I'm feeling lazy today, so I am basically just going to just copy and paste from the "photographer" post last week.

Umm... hi.  Typically, we ask that new posters start off with some sort of an introduction.  Name, wedding date and location at minimum will get you a lot more help.  This board covers everywhere from Buffalo to Syracuse and from Cortland all the way up north to St. Lawrence co.  We have girls from all over the place who would be happy to send some recommendations/advice your way.... but it is difficult to be of any use without a little information from you (namely "location" is you are looking for a "local" florist)...

Also, if your wedding is in August 2012 and you don't yet have a florist... I wouldn't exactly consider that slacking or behind schedule.  You've got plenty of time.

    Welcome to the board.

** also, if you are looking to stay within a articular budget, it would help if you let us know what that is.  For flowers specifically... are you looking for ceremony, reception or both?  Any particular kind of flower?  etc etc...

Basicalluy, the more specific you can be with what you are looking for... the better and more useful responses you will get.  HTH

Sry I was just trying to post real quick cause I was leaving so lets start over again...Hi my names is Kristina. Im gettine married August 11, 2012. Im looking for florists around syracuse area. I dont have exactly a set budget on the flowers yet its just the few they list on here are a bit pricey so I was looking for recomendations on maybe smaller shops that are cheaper but will do as good of a job. I def. need my bouquet and 3 bridesmaids bouquets so the price on those will determine ceremony and reception flowers. thanks again

Much better!!  Welcome to the board.

TBH, I didn't look much around Syracuse.  The one quote I got from a florist in Liverpool was well over $500 for bouquets only.  I was shocked.

Flowers were pretty low on my list of things I cared about (translation: things I wanted to dump lots of money on)... so after I found out how much they cost... I ended up DIY-ing them.  I ordered 200 white roses from Sams club online.  It was a total PITA to do, but it cost next to nothing and they looked gorgeous.

If you are looking to save $$ and are relatively crafty (or have crafty friends/BMs/mom)... DIY might be an option.  Otherwise... my best guess for your +3 would be about $300... depending on the type of flowers.

I'm sure some of the other girls will pipe in with suggestions.  We have a few in the Syracuse area, but most everyone posts during the week.  Weekends are pretty slow.  HTH

I don't know if this is true or not b/c I haven't looked into it myself but I have heard that Wegman's is actually reasonable (I'm not sure what their pricing is like). But I will say that I went to a couple weddings that used the one in Dewitt; it has a wedding floral department and they did a beautiful job.

Is there a local farmer's market that you could check out?  I'm using someone from the Ithaca Farmer's Market who has a farm where they get all the flowers and it's way cheaper than a traditional florist.

My sister-in-law used Price Chopper.. the woman let her buy all her own vases and ribbon (and said that if they, as in PC, could get it cheaper they would).  She went to Michaels every week and used 40% off coupon and bought vases and then went to PC.
    Hope it helps!

I've heard good things about Wegmen's (in Fayetville) or Pricechopper (in Clay) for flowers.
