Wedding Coordinator

I have a handle on all of the planning, but I am thinking of getting someone for the day of the wedding to make sure my DIY projects are all in place, ensure the ceremony is decorated, the guys have their boutonniere's on, etc, does anyone have any recommendations for someone in the area?  Our wedding is in the Schenectady/Scotia/Glenville Area.

Where are you having the wedding at?  Many places the frequently host weddings have their own coordinator/planner.
I looked into it myself at first because I was terrified of all the what if's... "how do I know when to walk down the aisle... who sets up the tables and puts out the centerpieces... how do I know when to say "I do"?"  all that stuff.
Plus, I hadn't been to a wedding in years.  I didn't know what order things were supposed to happen in and who would know when to annouce this, say that, cut the cake... oh my gosh- there is so much that goes inot it, it can be overwhelming.
What I did learn though is that there are people who do weddings... every day as a part of their job.
There is someone at our church who will help to coordinate the events at the church and the winery we booked our reception at has their own wedding coordinator (who, by the way, is FABULOUS!)
I am so thankful t have the assistance of these awesome pros... and so glad I did not waste the money on hiring an outside wedding coordinator myself.

So... I guess it depends on where you are having your wedding and reception at... but I would definitely look into it bigtime before dropping extra money on a specialized wedding coordinator.  I am not sure what your budget is, but to me it just seemed like an extra unnecessary expense.

Our place has a coordinator (River Stone Manor in Scotia) and she well help with a lot of little things.  However, when it comes to stuff like setting up the ceremony (I'm doing shepherd hook and tulle) she won't help, or making sure all of the guys have their right boutonniere's, she won't help.  It's more like if I drop receptions stuff off the night before she will make sure she places them in the right spot.

I really don't want my BP or parents having to set up the ceremony the day of.  So I am thinking of getting someone who can do that, help with tear down and returning the stuff to us, etc.

Seriously?  She won't do that sort of stuff?  Geesh... some help.

I don't know of anyone in your area... sorry, wish I could be more help.

Do you have anyone in your family who would be willing to help out?  (Thinking like a teenage or twenty-ish girl like a cousin or something or even an aunt) who is not in the bridal party or immediate family, but would appreciate having a role in the wedding and able to handle everything that you need.  I know I have a super artsy-stylish younger cousin who is not in my wedding party, but would totally love to help out with something like that if I needed her to.

    Just a suggestion.

IPersonally,  would just be so hesitant to dump extra money into something that seems really simple to handle.... I know coordinators can be very expensive (the ones I priced were nearly 800-1000- crazy!).  But, hey- if it fits into your budget, go for it!

    Good luck

I actually know these great planners/coordinators. They are based in brooklyn and they do day of set up and hosting, making sure everything goes according to your plan. They did my cousins wedding and it was perfect and she did not have to worry about a thing they seated everyone and made sure the caters we on point. My cousin only had to walk in and enjoys her self. Check the website: www.eventandartstudio.com the email address is eventandartstudio@yahoo.com
