New York

**Alyssa** (or anyone else that feels like reading my musings)

Someone in my office was just messing around pretending to be a cheesy radio DJ and dedicated a song ("Goin' to the Chapel") to Sarah CurrentLastName-But-Not-For-Long.  I can't believe in 8 days we'll be married!!  And this particular reminder made me freak out a little bit about the name thing.  Are you changing yours?

I am and I've got to do it fast because I need my passport with the new name back before mid-December.  But for some reason it had never occurred to me that when people ask me my name, I'll have to say Sarah NewLastName.  That is soooo weird!  I'm going to have to think about my name before I say it for a while!  I will miss my old name too.  :-(

Lol!!!  Yay for Sarah and Alyssa!!  Only a few more days, ladies!!!

And yes, Sarah, the new name thing is sooooo weird.  I have been using mine for over 3 months now and I still screw it up from time to time.

I'm sure this happens all the time!  I've had my name for 29 years -- it'll be so hard to switch!  For some reason, the paperwork part doesn't bother me, but actually saying it out loud is crazy.

Im having such a time with the name change thing.  I am published under my maiden name and keep going back and forth on whether I want to go by my new last name professional or stick with my maiden name.

I mess it up all the time.  I initial w/my maiden name and then sign my new name on accident all the time.  The other day I signed my maiden name at the bank on the electronic signature thingy.  I'm having a hard time, I miss my name :(.

Yeah - it's really weird.  I say my new last name but I don't really feel like that's me!  I still feel like the old me.

Yesterday I introduced myself as Emily old-last-name to someone.  If I'm not paying attention when I sign for something (which I do a lot) I write the wrong name.

It's a bit of an identity crisis - LOL.  It's going to take a long time to get used to.  The nice thing is that people remind me all the time - all my coworkers immediately changed how they refer to me, so at least I have them reminding me!  Oh yeah, that's my name now!  Haha.

We got our first check the other day made out to "Mr. and Mrs. Iannapollo" and I was like that is the weirdest thing ever lol. I'm going from having the most common last name in the world to an incredibly Italian last name, so I know it's going to take some getting used to.

Me too!  Well, I mean, my last name isn't super-common, but it's only 6 letters and not hard.  FI's is Italian and has two 'z's in it!  When he has to spell it out to someone over the phone, it's always a production because no one expects to have that letter combination.

I'm excited to change my name, but it looks weird. It's much shorter than my current name. Sarah you know my current last name on FB, that's why I want to change my last name to Chad's. :)

We moved into a new office at work about a month ago and we had to get pictures for our security name badges and I put my new last name and it's weird seeing it. I know people will be like 'who's alyssa new last name?' AND to make it more interesting my FSIL works at the same company and my name and her name will be the same (until she gets married)

Definitely strange to get used to. 1st day back to work yesterday since June and when kids were yelling "Mrs. R!!" I had an "Oh, sh*t, that's me!" moment!

I also haven't switched everything yet, so it's hard to remember what things have which name.

    Shorter is good!

That's funny about FSIL.  I feel like Chris' mom with my new name!  (But I guess I'll get over that.)
