CNY Bridal Fair

Anyone going to the CNY Bridal Fair today at Justin's Grill? My FI and I are going, bc there will be tv's for football.   We've never been to any bridal fair, any advice?

I went to a bridal show at Driver's Village last january, and had a good time looking at all the vendors and getting ideas.  One thing I wish I did was write down a different email address on the cards they want you to fill out.  I received SO many emails, it made me never want to attend another show.  If you really like a vendor, then of course give them your real email.  I just hated feeling spammed from vendors I never wanted to use.  Other than that, it was a lot of fun to browse around.  HTH!

Bring a sheet of your return address labels.  This will save you HOURS of filling out your name and address over and over and over again.

Make an email address (If you haven't already) JUST for wedding related things and give that out.  You will get an unbelieveable amount of junk mail from these things and it helps to have all wedding-related stuff go to a seperate address.

Bring your calendar/planner/whatever you keep appointments in.  Many vendors will offer a discount if you book- or at least book an appointment- on the spot.  "Let me check my calendar and get back to you"= I don't want to deal with you and they know that... so being able to make plans on the spot can save you money.

DO NOT- I repeat- DO NOT book the first DJ, photographer, florist you meet... even if they are offering "ZOMG the best.deal.EVER"... If you can, find out who will be at the show and do your research online ahead of time so you have an idea who you want to talk to and who to avoid.  Sometimes the slimiest vendors put on the best show at a bridal expo.  Doing a little homework ahead can help you to avoid these vendors

Know your budget before you go.... so if you haven't discussed $$$ yet with those involved, I wouldn't even waste my time going... it can be so easy to get caught up the hype and book, book, book... then realize you only have $25 left to spend on your dress or something, ya know? 

Don't put a "Ring Bearer" sticker on your belly if you're pregnant.  It's tacky.

Thanks for all of the advice.  This bridal fair SUCKED.  It had maybe 15 vendors.  I walked through it in twenty minutes, then went out to the bar to watch the games with FI.

All of your advice will be great for the bigger fair in two weeks!  Thanks again!

Lol... Alyssa... I have been to 3 different bridal fairs and I sh!t you not, at every single one I have seen some white trash looking thing waddling around with a "Bride" sticker on and a "Ring Bearer" sticker on her big fat pregnant belly... shudder.  bleh.  Sooooo classy.

Anyone going to bigger fair on Oct 2nd?! I really want to go, FI says noo because it's football day so unless I recruit a friend, I'll probably be hitting it solo. If any Knotties are going and want to have a mini-GTG before hand for a cocktail/glass of wine (yes I drink during the day on Sundays. My religion of football mandates it, but I can at least class it up from beer to something more ladylike for a special event. Don't judge me)

Monica, thanks for the tips! FI and I will be coming back from Philly the day before, after we talk to this dream venue, so we'll hopefully have a better idea of what's going on. Even if we go with the place in Philly, a bridal show still sounds fun

I went today! Kept my fingers croosed to win but didnt lol oh well. I am going to the October 2nd one already got my ticket in the mail. Cant wait . Hope to see some of you there! If anyone would like to meet up with bff also bride to be and I for a couple drinks or lunch before that could be fun.
