Budget Friendly Wedding Reception

My fiance and I had thought we found a place but we just werent feeling it. We are a very casual couple with a large very casual family and we don't have a lot of money to spend on a wedding. I was hoping someone may know of some nice VFWs, American Legions, or just halls that are rentable without being tied into their specific menus. Its a July wedding with about 175 people and we need AC because of many elderly so parks are pretty much out. We are open to going with hotels or something but the budget probably wont work we are looking to stay at $50/pp or less including bar and everything, the Clarion is within that budget and we were pretty set on it but we arent a fan of the location and finding somewhere to do the ceremony is becoming a huge hassle. Thank you for any help you can provide!

    Pretty much anywhere in the greater syracuse area: Anything Oswego County or Cicero, Clay, Liverpool, Baldwinsville, North Syracuse, Brewerton.. anywhere around these areas... we might be willing to travel further if we found something that worked for our needs. Smile

    Im having my wedding at wysockis in Cicero. We are getting married at their gazebo and having our reception there. There is no cost for our ceremony and the reception comes to about 32pp and that includes 4 meats options and open bar. they have 3 different size rooms and 2 of them are really nice.

    If you are willing to travel, check out the VFW in Geneva NY on Seneca Lake... the view and setting are GORGEOUS and such a steal.  Geneva itself is very classy and most of the places are super expensive, and this place fits right in.... minus the price... just like any other VFW or American Legion.... very reasonable.  But the view... WOW!!!  Everytime we drive by it on a wine tour I can't help but comment on what a sweet spot on the lake they ended up with.  So awesome!

    Our reception is at the American Legion in Cicero. We are having an Italian buffet and beer/wine/soda bar. With tax and gratuity it ends up being a little less then $30 a person. They can also accommodate your ceremony as well if you so choose.

    My reception is at Wysockis as well! May 21, 2011. I was originally set for Dibbles Inn but to be perfectly honest, the owner/coordinator was so set on "her way or no way" and when I showed up to look at the room, she kept looking over her shoulder for her next appt, and then left me when they showed! Needless to say I'd NEVER recommend them. But Wysockis has been nothing but amazing thus far. Their prices are phenominal and the rooms/grounds are beautiful!
