My MOH told me a story over the weekend about a wedding she went to a few years ago. She was the Best Man's date.
Apparently, the BM did not like (ok maybe hated) the bride and did not support the marriage. After the RD, the bride and groom got into an argument that lasted up until (and through) the ceremony. The BM saw this as an opportunity to
A. Tell the bride exactly how he felt about her (using many expletives that I will refrain from using here) and
B. Drink his entire BM gift which included a 6 pack of his favorite beer in a personalized cooler and a pint of his fav liquor.... BEFORE the ceremony.
By the time the ceremony came, he had to basically be carried down the aisle by the MOH. He spent the entire ceremony rubbing the groom's shoulders and patting him on the back, clapping and cheering inappropriately during the vows (the priest had to shush him) and flirting (winking, blowing kisses, etc) to the groom's grandmother (seated in the front row) from the alter. The MOH had to pass her bouquet off to another BM so she could carry him (literally) back down the aisle for the recessional.
After the ceremony, the MOH plopped him down on a bench to sober up. The groom's grandmother sat down beside him to comfort him. He then proceeded to throw up all over grandma's new dress and shoes.
Afterwards, he was tossed onto a bellhop cart and wheeled up to his room to sleep his drunken coma off.
Could you imagine having such a drunken disaster on your big day? I just might find a way to lock the drunken idiot in the closet until it was over. lol. Oh man.... on the flip side, it does make for a pretty hilarious story (as long as it is someone else's wedding I guess)....
Anyone else got any good ones??
