Downtown buffalo hotels... Adams mark

My wedding is at pearl street in August 2012 and we are starting to think about hotel blocks. I think Adams mark is probably closest but any reviews of Adams mark or other downtown hotels? I'd love a hotel that provided a shuttle after the reception for hotel guests but not sure if this is possible. Also do we pay to reserve a block of rooms or is it free? I'm going to call hotels after the new year but just curious. Thanks!!

  • You do not have to pay to block rooms.  You basically can call the hotel and tell them that you want a block of rooms for your wedding and they will give you a quote.  You can then just pass the information on to your guests or put some information in with your invitiations so guests know where your block is and where they can stay.  They then have until a certain date to reserve the room or the block will no longer be there and the hotel can sell to other guests.  I would not suggest the Adam's Mark.  There have been numerous reviews about unclean rooms, bad service, etc.  Definitely not the impression you want to leave on your guests.  I would suggest the Hyatt since that is probably the next closest one.
  • My wedding is July 2012 and we are having the reception at the Lafayette Hotel downtown.  Apparently the weekend of our wedding is really busy so we had some trouble securing enough rooms in one spot for what we wanted, but we did manage to get some rooms at The Holiday Inn, The Hyatt, and The Hampton Inn.  My mom did all the coordinating for me, but she said everyone was nice.  Since they only hold the rooms for so long and it apparently is a busy weekend we are planning to send the hotel info with our save-the-dates, which we'll send sometime in January I hope.

Most places will also let you come in and check out the hotel just so you feel confident sending your guests to somewhere that will be decent.

  • perhaps you can get a hold of the NFTA and ask for a shuttle quote. IDK if they will do it for a wedding, but they did for events for my school all the time. also, the rail is only a block or two away, if you would be okay with that...but idk concerning weather and the other riders are always questionable. just an option i guess!

  • My wedding reception was downtown as well. I rented a school bus that acted as a shuttle for my guest. I blocked rooms in my home town closer to the church where we got married. We rented the school bus from Grand Tours.
