DIY Help please

Hello Ladies:  My wedding is in 17 days and I could use some help with some DIY projects, please.  I have decided to make our unity and memorial candles. Does anyone have an idea what size the vellum should be to be visible on the front of a 9" pillar? I am making votives with the names of our loved ones who passed to sit in front of the memorial pillar. Does anyone know what size to make those?  For those of you who made your own, should I be concerned about the vellum burning? I have been told it will be fine, but I'm nervous.  Does anyone know where to find any templates for chair signs?TIA

PIB of my unity candle. I didn't take specific measurements of the vellum or of our design, I just fooled around until I was happy with the size. I printed a few test runs on regular paper, cutting it down to fit and wrapping it around the candle. I then made adjustments and repeated until I was happy. I then printed it on the vellum and applied it for real. I'd keep it at least 1/2" to 1" away from the top of the candle so you don't have to worry about it burning. Here are some vellum printing tips:1. Use a draft or lower quality print setting. The less ink the better on that type of medium.2. Let dry completely! I let all my vellum prints dry overnight.3. Avoid the printed area when completing your projects. Don't rub over it when you glue it down - it may smear with the oils from your skin.Try posting on the DIY national board - someone may have templates to help you for the votives and chair signs.
