175 Guests for 10k in Eastern PA...it is possible??

Hi all,
Yes you read that correctly 175 guests, my fiance and I have large families and plenty of close friends. I;m looking for a venue that will accomodate our party size as well as our wallets! We are in the Philadelphia area so we are hoping to stay on the eastern side as the majority of our guests will be coming from New York/North Jersey-hopefully the commute won't be for than 3 hours.

We initally found this LOVELY place, Casino at Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA but that would be a 5 hour drive for our guests. We are trying to make it so they could just drive down and back with an option to stay overnight, not a requirement because more likely our wedding will be on a Friday or Sunday (gotta take advantage of those off-peak prices!).

Our wedding planned for spring 2014 but I would like to get a jump on things because time travels and before you know it venues will be filling up!

We invited 205 guests and 175 responded that they were coming.  We had our reception at Hanover Grande Ballroom in Bethlehem.  It cost under 15k.  It included 4 hour reception plus cocktail hour, 4 hour open bar, cold and hot hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, salads and entrees, wedding cake, champagne toast, and overnight accommodations for H and myself. We went with the standard ivory table linens and no chair covers.  The venue handled all of the decorating and set up.  We literally had to worry about nothing.

We had also looked into the Masonic Temple in Bethlehem.  It is much cheaper, but it's all DIY and the price only includes a family style meal.  We loved the venue but we decided that DIY wasn't the route we wanted to take.

Check out Riverview Country Club in Easton, just got quotes for 150 people and it was around 11K till you are done with taxes and all, you can save quite a bit if you do it on a friday or sunday, a couple of grand. I haven't gone to visit it yet, but from what I understand its beautiful.  The contact for events there has been super helpful as well.

The Kutztown Fire Company is $25 per person for food and and open bar ranges from $10-20 more. We have 240 guests invited and it's just over $10k for the reception.

The food is awesome there, I actually used to work with the guy that is running the entire wedding setup for the fire hall. Call and ask for Jay 610.683.8706 ext 3
