Cupcake brides?

Hi ladies,I'm gearing up to research bakers and I thought I'd turn to you all for your experiences.I'm really into cupcakes! Anyone had/will have cupcakes? What are your flavors? Any vendor recs? I'm also curious about the pricing--it seems like cupcakes might actually take more time than a normal wedding cake (normal being a relative term). I'm wondering if any of you noticed a big gap between the price-per-slice/price-per-cupcake ratio.

I didnt use them (I did individual cakes on each table) however, the Enquirer just did a big rundown of the cupcake spots in Cincinnati. You might want to check with them since they do this all the time. Cupcakes are a different breed for bakers (from what I have heard) so make sure you see their product before selection.

I am getting married in 9 days!!!  We are having cupcakes at our wedding instead of  a cake.  We are using the Cake Diva out of Waynsville.  We are having 5 flavors...white, chocolate chocolate chip, cookies n cream, banana, and lemon.  The icing for all with be buttercream.  We are having clear liners so you can see what the flavors are.  We payed $0.75 per cup cake, plus extra for flowers on top of each.  I am so excited to see how they turn out.  We are ordering enough so everyone can hvae 3 cup cakes...still cheaper than getting a large cake.  Hopethis helps. We are having cake and cupcakes. Our cupcake flavor is Oreo! Our baker is Artrageous Desserts and she will do any of her flavors in cupcakes. I can't remember her price and I don't have my contract with me, sorry. Fun addition for cupcakes - pretty wrappers: http://www.cupcakewrapture.com/

We are having cupcakes from A Spoon Fulla Sugar on Montgomery Road.  We tested out lots of bakers and their cupcakes were best by far. The buttercream is amazing, the size is quite large, the presentation is spectacular. They serve them in these really great cups that you can eat right out of.     They offer a wide variety of flavors and were also open to testing out flavors we thought might be fun. We chose, chocolate chip cake filled with white choc mousse topped w/ choc. buttercream & choc chips; italian cream cake filled w/raspberry topped w/ van buttercream and a fresh raspberry; coconut cake filled w/ choc ganache topped w/ van buttercream & toasted coconut.  The best partof their tastings is that they offer you a platter (in store or to take home) of cakes, frostings, & fillings and you can mix and match to see what combos you like best.We are paying $1.75 per cupcake. HTH!

I'm glad you posted this! I'm doing cupcakes too and haven't picked a baker yet. I was considering Sam's because they are really reasonable and then doing a small speciality cake for me & FI. There is a new bakery opening in Bellevue on Fairfield Ave that supposedly specializes in cupcakes and specialty cakes, but I don't know the name.

I know that Maribelle's does cupcakes, and they are amazing. Well, all of Maribelle's cakes are amazing. I'm not sure how much they are though, but I do know that they are higher up on the expense scale in the city.

We did cupcakes. We had 200 cupcakes for 100 guests and our baker gave us the top anniversary tier to save. Plus she gave us a small cake to cut. We used Patti Cakes in Huber Heights (Dayton area).

While I'm not doing cupcakes for my wedding, I will second A Spoon Fulla Sugar on Montgomery Rd for their cupcakes. We are using them for cake only, but FI and I bought their red velvet, white cake with rasp filling, and choc cake with choc mousse filling cupcakes on the two times that we've been in there to discuss our cake. The cupcakes are soo good. The icing totally rocks and the cupcakes are nice and moist. I would definitely check them out.

We're using A Spoon Fulla Sugar too. Their cake/icing tastes great, they are really easy to work with, and their prices for cupcakes are great. (Their cake is about $1 more/slice if I remember correctly.)Also, if you would still like to have a small cake, they'll do an 8" cake for $20 that can be at the top of your cake stand.
