Indoor/Outdoor Wedding Venue? Please help!

Hi, this is my first post on this website, and I am totally at the beginning of my wedding planning.  We just got engaged over the holidays (yea!), and are planning on a July 2012 wedding.  He has MS, so he can't really be out in the heat without it causing complications (and another family member has the same situation).  But if God decides to bless us with a beautiful, not hot or humid day in late July, I want the option to take the ceremony outside.  Does anyone know of any locations that offer this kind of option?  We live in the White Marsh area, but we have friends all over Harford County, Baltimore County, Howard County, and mostly Carroll County. We will also have family coming in from Illinois that will need accomodations.  We have just started the guest list, but I am thinking between 100-200 guests and with a not-so-expensive budget.  Any suggestions you have would be much appreciated; I am in a whirlwind of details and questions!  Thanks in advance.  And congrats to every one of you who just got married or soon-to-be married brides!

  • Have you checked out Gramercy Mansion? They have a great back up plan in case it rains. The covered terraced with twinkle lights creates a beautiful ceremony site. You don't even notice your inside due to the outside feeling. They give tours, you just have to call them. Here is a video that shows the grounds! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LQALnzX2jvs
  • Congratulations!  I am getting married at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown (Carroll County) and they offer different options for the ceremony.  You can have it outside in a rose garden or inside in the glass pavilion.  It's a beautiful venue and would be a great location for your guests in Carroll County.  The whole 24 acre property is yours for the day, so you don't have to worry about any other weddings happening on your day.  Also, they have lots of rooms for out of town guests to rent for the night & you and your fiance have a room for the night.  Check out their website www.antrim1844.com.  Hope this helps! Good luck!

  • Thanks to all!  Harford County is convenient for only a handful of our guests, so we haven't been looking there.  Taneytown is convenient for more of our guests (we have several of our friends, some of whom are in our bridal party) as Carroll County is where we lived for the past several years.  We have been focusing more on the Baltimore County area.  But I have looked at all of the suggestions and made some calls, so thanks again! And good luck to you:)

  • We're getting married at the Cloisters Castle in lutherville. It has indoor and outdoor space and is so beautiful. Its under tree cover so it stays reasonably cool even in the summer. I think their rates are reduced for July too. You should definitely check it out!
  • Thanks.  You are right, Cloisters is beautiful!  They are booked for our date though:(  I don't even want to visit there because I am sure I will fall in love with it even more than I did online!  He is pretty firm on the date, so we don't have too much wiggle room.  I was willing to change our date to be able to have it at Cloisters, but he isn't as in love with the location as I am.  So I will have to live vicariously through you:)  Thanks for the idea and good luck.

  • the other barn in columbia upstairs hall can hold i think up to 120-150, can use the courtyard/garden area for free, its 1400 for Sat, 895 for Sunday.
the baldwin hall in millersville/anne arundel county, its 1000 for day and can use any part of the property.
union mills is nice but they only have one date left in 2012 and its in september.
i am using star spangled banner house museum in baltimore off pratt, they have the large ballroom upstairs and then you maybe able to use the garden for the ceremony.
you can try state parks, and anne arundel county parks or baltimore county parks. Gunpowder Falls State Park (Mill Pond Cottage), Janes Island Conference Center (Eastern Shore area), Quiet Waters in AA County, etc.
the inn at perry cabin (i think thats correct) had some nice rooms, they do their own catering but i dont know prices with them.
