Ceremony- 5:00 or 6:00?

Good Morning,

We've picked the Maryland venue for our event- phew. It'll be a Saturday wedding in August with an outdoor ceremony. The wedding coordinator is suggesting that we start the Ceremony at 6:00 and end at 7:00, then have the cocktails & reception from 7:00-11:00.

Should we move ahead with this schedule, or change it to start at 5:00 instead? We are simply worried that it might be too dark by the end of the ceremony for pictures and everything. What do you think?

Thanks!

In August, it doesn't get dark until 8-8:30, so there will be plenty of light for photos of the ceremony.  If you want sunset photos, you'll probably need to steal away during dinner, to step back outside for those.

If there is AC at your venue or at least good fans To keep guests happy I say go for 5pm. Weddings fly by so quickly and if you can get an extra hour out of it, go for it!

Mine is in May and ours is at 6pm.

You can look also at sunrise/sunset times online.

I think 6pm would also help if it is really hot, later is usually cooler.

First & foremost it's your day. A good photographer can take pictures @ anytime & still make them look stunning. Have your wedding exactly how & time you want it. I'm not sure if you a photographer he/she should be able to bring you comfort, but ShaunAnthony is excellent. Beautiful pictures, check out his site shaunanthony.com.

Thanks everyone, we actually decided on 6:00 and your opinions were helpful. The point about the photographer is one I didn't think about, I'll check out his site. Thanks!
