Mountains Close to Annapolis/Baltimore?

Me, FH and the majority of our family and friends live in the Annapolis/Baltimore area. I'd really love to have our wedding somewhere in the mountains, but don't want to make our guests drive too far. Does anyone know what the closest mountainous area to Annapolis/Baltimore is?

Thanks for the reply. We really haven't figured out what "too far" is yet, right now we need to figure out what's closest. Thanks for the reccomendations, they're a big help. We're going for a bit of a rustic vibe as well.

Try Rocky Gap Lodge, they have a pretty lodge/reception area there.  FI's department does retreats there and he always raves about how beautiful it is!

    Here's their website:

The site says it's in Cumberland, I don't know if that's doable but something to consider.

Be careful with Rocky Gap.  We initially were planning to have our wedding there, and the coordinator just all of a sudden quit returning calls and e-mails.  I thought maybe she'd left her job there because she wasn't responding, but nope.  I called the front desk and she still worked there.  She just SUCKED at responding.  I decided I didn't want that kind of person taking care of my wedding planning.

That said, I did love Rocky Gap as a wedding venue.  But we ended up going with Morningside Inn in Frederick too.

We are getting married at Stone Manor Country Club. It is a beautiful place outside of Frederick in Middletown, MD.

Near Frederick or the WV border. I don't think there's much closer than that.

We are getting married at Musket Ridge in Myersville, MD.  The catoctin mountains make a beautiful backdrop and Bonnie and JayJay are awesome to work with!

The Liberty Ski Resort is about an an hour and 15 min outside of Baltimore. The staff are great and totally helpful. We are planning our wedding there for June of 2011 and it's absolutely gorgeous. Plus, they just bought out Carroll Valley Country Club right next door, which gives you more options for a venue.

    Their site is www.skiliberty.com

Did I mention they are TOTALLY affordable too?? :)
