Nixon Library

Hi there, Can someone who has hotested a wedding or event at the Nixon Library ansswer a question for me?  When my fiance and I visited, we both noticed that the room had an echo.  Both of our fathers are slightly deaf and we are worried that the the echo (coupled with the bank/DJ) is a recipe for disaster. Once the linens, tables, etc. are added to the room, does the echo disappear?  Thank you! ND P.S.  Any other information on the Nixon Library experience is welcome!

A family friend got married there a few months ago.  My stepmom is deaf in one ear and didn't have a problem there at all.  We were seated as far as possible from the DJ, but in an area that would make sense for parents of the bride and groom for sure. The food was amazing and it's a beautiful location.

Great!  Thanks for the information! Do you know which caterer they used?

My husband would probably remember.  What were the options?

my mom has done some events there in the past. with your decor it often changes the sound a bit. when you say deaf, do they wear aides or are the just short of hearing? If they wear HA's you may just have them turn them down slightly, if thay don't I agree w/ ppl have them sit near the front or closer to walls. when you fill the room w/ tables, chairs, linens etc it will make the echo softer. Ask if you could come in while they are setting up an even and you should be able to tell the difference.

I am having my wedding reception there on Oct 3. My mom was concerned about the echo and we asked our coordinator (who hosts many weddings there). She said that once the room is filled with tables and chairs, that the echo is no problem at all. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have about the library.

I am having my wedding there, I just love it, I was also curious to see what caterer other brides went with, I wish they had more options? I am thinking of going with White House Catering, anyone else?

I am using Jason's Catering. We did tastings with Creme de la Creme and White House before we picked Jasons. The Hyatt was absolutely ridiculously priced, at least twice the price of the others for the same amount of food and alcohol so we didn't even meet with them. Our wedding isn't for another month and a half so I can't give a final review until afterward but simply based on the planning experience, I would not recommend Jasons. The food is truly great (we liked it better than White House) and we booked them because they seemed to provide the most for the money (Creme de la Creme was a little pricier) but Jasons is not really living up to their initial committment. There have been lots of "additional charges" for example, colored tablecloths were included in our package pricing but for whatever reason, the matching napkins were not adding about another $1 per person. Spoons and Champagne glasses (hello, its a wedding!) were not included and have been an additional charge. I asked for a comprehensive quote before signing anything but so many more hidden costs have come out since then. The nickle and diming has really diminished our wedding planning experience. I just hope and pray that everything goes well with the wedding. I'll definitely share a final review of the catering after the big day.

Thank you for all the information!  I feel much better about the "echo." We're trying to decide between two wedding dates so hopefully we can book the venue this week.  It's exciting but a little nerve racking.I've only spoke to the Amine with White House Catering but I was pretty impressed (of course that is based on one telephone conversation).  I would be a little nervous about using Jason's knowing that they nickle and dime you. Why wouldn't you assume spoons were included? That's weird! I look forward to all of your final reviews and pictures! Congratulations to all of you!

Amine with White House is really great. You can tell that they care about the client and that service is very important to them. I wish that we had complained about the overdone dryness of the filet at our tasting and they probably would have fixed it but we just figured if 1 at a tasting isn't perfect, how would 150 be after we were already booked? Our DOC who is the recommended Nixon Library person says that White House and Creme are her favorites and she has done lots of weddings there.
