Venue in the OC

Hi Girls,
I just moved out here from NY and I am trying to plan a wedding for June 2011. I would really love to have the ceremony on the beach, but I don't know I would find one that is privately owned so there aren't a whole bunch of strangers gawking? I was thinking of renting a house with a private beach, or hotel, etc. Any suggestions? I looked at Surf and Sand in Laguna but I hated the rooms and they only have a public  beach. If I can't have one on the beach, I would like somewhere overlooking the ocean. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I would look into renting a private home that has a beach view. It'll be intimate and you'll have the beautiful backdrop.

That is what I am doing! I am renting a house, some houses are on private beach, and then having the wedding in the grass along the beachfront. Check out these sites:

Umm I think Hotel Laguna had a semi private beach but it was extremely small.  The Montage in Laguna I think has a beach too but its VERY expensive

Casa del Camino is a very nice place too. They have a rooftop venue.

If you end up not being able to do a wedding on the beach, there are two restaurants on a cliff overlooking the Dana Point Harbor (Cannon's and the Charthouse) that are supposed to be excellent wedding venues.

I went to a wedding at Cannon's in August of last year and I loved it! It was a little small, but the ambience was wonderful. The bride and groom took their pictures on the beach after the ceremony, so you could still get the beach in there somewhere! Plus, they had one of their photographers set up a camera facing the harbor after night fell and we all took pictures with the ocean lit up by the lights as a backdrop, which was lovely for the guests.

    Best of luck!
