Cash bar? Do or don't and why? And I know everyone will probably say no, I just want to hear why...

I think in todays economy people are more understanding if a cash bar is at a wedding. If you worried about money maybe put a limit on how much you guys can afford to put towards it (ex. $500-$100)and when its gone its gone.

I'm having a cash bar at my wedding and I think its perfectly okay. The wedding isn't about getting drunk with your friends like every other weekend. Its about celebrating the love between two people. I am hosting a champange toast but thats it.

I was thinking of doing something like that (hosting a toast). Thanks you guys. You made me feel a lot better about this situation. A lot of people on here have been telling me how rude it is to expect people to pay for their own drinks but I figured my family dosen't even drink it's mainly my FI's family and our friends and I know they will have no problem paying for their drinks b/c they know how tight our budget is. Thanks again ladies!

True. I'm also having a cash bar but only for hard liquor. If guests want a beer, juice, water, soda it's all free.

See those are all good ideas, and my friends like to party so I also would be nervous to give them an open bar, I mean I know them they would totally take advantage lol.

We are doing a Signature Drink for our guests to try/drink or we are going to contribute so much to the bar (ex.$500) and whatever that takes care of awesome! But for the most part im hoping people can buzz it up themselves if thats there prerogative! Because Im here to celebrate my wedding! =]

Do what you can, dont stress it!

cool on the free soda and stuff but if you have to pay for water it kind of sucks since people will be dancing and they get thirsty...
