Did anyone buy a tuxedo?

We'd rather rent because buying isn't in our budget, but I can't find the style we want. We're looking for a 1 button peak lapel tux. All the peak lapel ones at the rental places are 2 button, though. The only local places I know that sell tuxes are Men's Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank. Are there any other options besides like thousand dollar custom tailors? I'd rather not buy from an online store because I want my FI to be able to try it on before buying and to be able to touch the fabric and make sure it's not terrible. But if anyone had a positive experience buying a tux online, please share. Thanks as always, ladies!

My dh has all of his clothes tailored and he is actually been talking to the Folchi's. I know they are starting to do tailoring in their shops. I would talk to them. You want someone who is going to make it well, and it might cost a bit more, but trust me its worth it. not sure if they had that style, but Nordstrom had tuxedos and their pricing wasnt bad.

Really, Nordstrom has tuxes in the store? I should check it out. How much is reasonable for a tux, do you think? Jos. A. Bank has a one button peak lapel for something like $400, but with buying a shirt and vest (I'm picky on that account too) and accessories, the total is really going to be a lot for us. I do feel really guilty about spending so much money on my gown and skimping on his attire, I don't think that's fair at all. But FI is all for skimping since we don't foresee any other use for the tux in the near future. I talked to Mr. Folchi (what's his first name, Mark?) on the phone and he said he had a beautiful Italian tux that I'd like for about $1k, we just can't afford that.

H actually bought his from Men's Wearhouse (I tried to get him to buy designer - he wouldn't budge) and he's been very happy with it.  So far he's worn it to...five? events. Here's one from there, single button:http://www.menswearhouse.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay_10051_10758_10601_47121_-1_10758_BLACK_10651

you could try calling Peppe Ramundo's. I know they sell tuxes there but I don't know if they have what you are looking for specifically. www.pepperamundoandson.com

The single button tux from MW isn't peak lapel. I don't know why a single button peak lapel is so hard to find, it's the classic tux, I thought. It's pretty awesome that your husband actually gets to wear the tux he bought, hr. I think tuxes are underappreciated, men should wear them more. We went to Peppe Ramundo's too, he didn't have any like we want for rent and FI won't agree to spend a grand to have Peppe make one.

Thanks, hr, I remember this tux being more expensive, maybe it's on sale from the usual "sale" price. We were looking at the other peak lapel tux they have because I wanted unvented and with no flaps on the pockets, but at this price maybe we can have the flaps taken out and the vent sewn up...hmm...
