how much is the average cake cutting fee?

my caterer wants to charge $4 a slice - is that average? if not, what else are you hearing? thanks for your feedback everybody! :-)

I'm really not sure, sorry! My venue doesn't charge for cake cutting (thankfully), $4 per slice sounds ridiculous!

My venue charged $3 per slice. That is why we went with cupcakes. Same or even less expensive than a cake, and no cake cutting fee!

that seems crazy! sometimes if you meet the food minimum they will waive that fee. or else i would go with cupcakes!

L'Auberge charges $2.50, but they waive that if you get a cake with their partner vendor.

Thankfully, our caterer isn't charging a cake cutting fee. They've got all sorts of service charges and such, but no cake cutting fee...I've heard as low as $1.50/slice up to $5/slice, but that just seems steep to me. I'd really be hesitant to pay the $4/slice cake cutting fee.

I have looked at many places and I have never seen over $2.00 cake cutting fee.  That seems really expensive.

My venue didn't charge anything to cut my cake. The only time I heard of prices that high is if they offer you to buy a cake through them w/o a fee. $4/slice is more than the average cake per slice. I think it's too much.

The Hotel Del charges $6 a slice to cut and plate which is soooo ridiculous. It's only if they don't make your cake, so basically they just want a piece of the revenue their not getting if you don't pay them for the cake (oh and a piece of your soul) lol
