Hotel Room Prices for OOT guests Help!!

Ok so I wanted to ask this here because I wanted to get a local price scale idea. I would like to know how much you guys would be willing to pay if you were an oot guest at a wedding for one night, two nights at the very most. I am looking at hotel blocks and the places that have decent pricing are in bad areas and the places with the best pricing and area still seem high to block off for people. I am stuck and a little confused. Also if any one can recommend good reasonably priced hotels for oot guests and my bridal party I would appreciate it. We are getting married in Coronado.

What prices have you gotten so far, and from what hotels? I had my wedding in La Jolla, and was able to get room blocks in La Jolla for $150 per night before taxes. People were very excited about that amount. I would think something around that number would be reasonable. You really aren't under any "obligation' to block off rooms. If you have a wedding website, you could just list half a dozen available hotels in the area, and let your guests choose. Where are you staying on your wedding night? Maybe you can spend the night in that hotel the night before your wedding, then use it as your get ready room. That's what i did, it worked out really well.

I got married in Coronado a few years ago. To keep costs reasonable for our OOT guests, we set up a group block with the Crown City Inn & Bistro [www.crowncityinncoronado.com]. Although the inn is not fancy (at least in comparison to many of the hotels on Coronado), it is located within reasonable walking distance to both San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, along with a number of wonderful restaurants and shops. The majority of our guests stayed at this hotel. and we heard nothing but positive things about it. Our guests loved being able to stay in beautiful Coronado, and many raved about the breakfast meals which were offered at the Bistro. Depending on when you are getting married, I would expect that you could secure rooms at this hotel for between $100 and $150 per night. Another nice option on Coronado is the Glorietta Bay Inn [www.gloriettabayinn.com]. It is located right across the street from the Hotel del Coronado, and is divided into two parts-- a historic mansion where the Spreckels family stayed while building the Del, and newer hotel blocks. I stayed at this hotel numerous times before moving out to San Diego, and always received fantastic service while there. For non-mansion rooms, I would expect room rates to run between $150 to $250 per night, depending on room configuration [the GBI has several configurations, including multiple-room suites]. Having lived in Coronado, I can tell you that the prices you will see for Coronado hotels will vary a lot depending on when you are getting married. Coronado is always crowded in the summer, so rates will be higher between June and August. Off-season rates can be very reasonable though. Hope this helps!

Thank you all very much for the suggestions! The hotel that we blocked was the Glorietta Bay inn but the rooms are 159 and 200 with out taxes so that seemed a little high for me. I know people can look around for their own rates ect but I thought it would be nice to keep people close together and hopefully get them a deal. I will look into the hotels suggested. Oh and were getting married in september, so far that has seemed like a good month for prices not too high. Thanks again

The prices you mentioned for the Glorietta Bay Inn seem reasonable given that Coronado is such an upscale area. The hotel is a nice one, with a complimentary breakfast and a fantastic location right across from the Hotel del Coronado. I would probably keep the GBI block, but also offer a second block at the Crown City Inn for guests who are on a tighter budget. Since you are getting married in September, I would hope that you could get rooms at the Crown City Inn for close to $100 per night prior to tax. Good luck! I think that your guests will really enjoy staying on Coronado... our guests loved the area.

Hi there,I just got married in Coronado in September 2009. My husband and I decided to put his whole family up since they were coming from out of state and didn't have a lot of money to spend on hotels. I checked around for hotel prices and decided renting a house was a better route to go. I found a really nice house that easily slept 8-10 people for significantly less than what it cost for hotel rooms for them. The house had a pool, jacuzzi, and was a block to the beach. Check out www.vrbo.com Vacation Rental By Owner. September is at the end of the peak season so most places are willing to negotiate a bit. Keep in mind it's cheaper if large groups stay together. You'll find that a two bedroom house will cost you more than a 5 bedroom house when you break it down per person. His family appreciated the luxury of their own space (pool) and were impressed by my ability to think outside the box.
