Inexpensive Reception Locations

Hi. I got engaged just about a month ago now, and we're trying to figure out a good but not too expensive reception site. We are looking at having 150-200 people (which I know doesn't help with the budget side of things) I've found a few potential places, but I was hoping someone might have other suggestions for me. Ideally we would love something with an ocean/bayview. We have been looking at Marina Village primarily, but I was hoping to get some other suggestions of places to look. (ocean view or not) We're still trying to iron out the wedding budget, but it would be great if we could keep the total under 10,000-15,000. (10 would be ideal though)(other suggestions for helping keep our costs down would be greatly appreciated as well)

We're having our reception at The Butcher Shop in Kearny Mesa.  I know it's a funny name for a place to have a wedding reception, but the manager, Mike has been FABULOUS to work with.  The only thing is I'm not sure how many people their "ballroom" holds.

We looked at numerous location with ocean/bay view. Marina Village is definitely the most cost effective if you are trying to keep it between 10 and 15K. I have been to three weddigns at Marina Village and all were gorgeous!  We went with the Bahia. Slightly higher than Marina Village, but not as high as some other locations on the bay. Good Luck with your search!

Do you have access to military bases? If you know anyone that would be willing to sponsor you who is in the military I strongly reccommend checking our Admiral Kidd Club. It is by the airport on the submarine base but it is soo inexpensive! (about $39 per person) The ceremony is outside right along the water and you have the whole San Diego skyline as your backdrop it is beautiful! They book 2 years out though for saturday nights so dont wait too long!

Have you looked at Ocean View Villas? It's a DIY venue, but you can save a lot of money as you can bring in any caterer you want. I know brides who have used Souplantation, Stir Fresh Mongolian at OVV and loved how everything turned out.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm looking into the Coronado Community Center and Ocean View Villas. We're trying so hard to keep things under 10k, but with wanting to feed everyone, it's so hard! My parents are helping some, and I'm saving, but the fiance and I are trying to do a lot of it ourselves AND pay for the honeymoon.

We had our reception at the La Mesa Community Center Arobr View Room. Doesn't have an ocean view, but the price is reasonable, it will hold up to 350, Joan was great to work with and you can bring in any caterer and your own alcohol. They provide and set up the table and chairs.
