Father in wheelchair

I'm getting married this October and i've got as little situation. My dad is confined to a wheelchair due to a foot injury. I was hoping that by the time my wedding rolled around he would be able to use a walker on my big day, unfortunately it doesn't look like this is going to happen. My ceremony is going to be on a grass lawn and im just unsure as to whats a good way to have him walk/roll me down the isle... do I just walk next to him while he rolls?

Also, I obviously want to have a father/daughter dance but how do I go about doing with him in his chair?

Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated!

Ouch, that's no fun. I hope your dad heels soon! As for the logistics, I would recommend maybe an aisle runner, or maybe even some kind of flooring down the aisle if he is unable to roll the chair through the grass. (I don't know how easily wheelchairs go through grass) Another option might be to have a brother or uncle perhaps push your father next to you. It might add a special touch there and relieve any concern for your father being able to get through the grass.

As far as the father/daughter dance, by all means do it! You may want to practice with him ahead of time, but it is perfectly possible to dance in a wheelchair. Either your father would maneuver the chair, or perhaps, depending on your relationship and how you feel about it, you could even perch on his knees for the dance. There are lots of ways to accomplish this.  I would imagine that your father might have some input on the logistics for all of this as well.

I think it would be nice if someone pushed the wheelchair, that way your dad can also have a free hand to hold onto you!

The same thing happened when my sister got married. What she did was she had my father at the beginning of the aisle and then she walked over to him. Then her FH walked down the aisle to get her and my father stood up and said a few words to the both of them that were very private. Then they walked down the aisle together and got married. To be honest it was a great way to do it and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

I'm trying to remember what happened for the dance. My father was really out of it fromteh medication and I think she may have skipped it and danced with my mom instead.
