Affordable/Non-fondant wedding cake.

Hi Ladies,

I need to find a bakery that can provide an affordable cake, to feed about 80-100.
If you need more details, let me know.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

The French Gourmet sheet cakes are super affordable and so tasty.  Also, we don't like fondant so we are having the French Gourmet use Marzipan as a substitute, it's really awesome (less affordable though)

I think we're going with Edelweiss in RB. They do primarily buttercream, and from what I know their prices are reasonable. To give you an idea, it'll be $500 (including Sunday delivery) for a 3-tier buttercream for 150 people. If they do a 2-tier and a sheet cake, it may even be less expensive.

We are using Shirley the Cake lady, delicious cake, she hates fondant (as do I), and very sweet.  Best of all affordable!

We did our first cake tasting at Edelweiss.  They quoted us 364 for a three tiered cake.  The whole experience was great there.  If you go..ask for Amanda.

VG donuts in encinitas is amazing and for a three tier cake for 120 delivered- $300- if I went with a two tier and a sheet cake I could have spent less than $200.

We are using Tink's Cakes (google Sara Tink cakes or tinkscreativecakes.com) for our wedding.  She is incredibly affordable and her cakes are delicious (and I am not just talking samples, I actually had one of her cakes before at another event).

If you're not set on a traditional cake, you might consider cupcakes. They were much cheaper than a traditional cake (and my husband really wanted cupcakes). We used Twiggs Bakery are were very satisfied. The cupcakes were delicious and Dan was great to work with. They also do traditional cakes.
