Any hotel reviews for Mackinac Island or Minnesota North Shore?

We aren't sure which we want to go to yet (in early October 2012, we think)- but it's been over a decade since I've been to MI.  We're on a limited budget as well- I've been looking at rates for MI and I think we can afford Main St. Inn, for example, but not a condo.

Any reviews for hotels in either area?  We're looking for quiet places with good food and available activities (not too sporty, I'm not very athletic, though I like hiking).

    I actually just got engaged there less than a month ago! We stayed at the Island House Inn, and I absolutely loved it. There was a wedding going on while we were there and their front porch is large enough to fit a small cocktail hour.

    You can always look at (my personal favorite spot on the island) the Mission Point Gazebo for a wedding. That's where we got engaged. It was absolutely beautiful...great lake view!!
